Those are some nice pods you got going. And the second pics look like sponges or tunicates or a combination of both which are good filters.
Thanks.
I took this pic of a chain of tunicates on a night dive (Honeymoon, Belize 2005). I used a cheapo P&S Cybershot in a $90 case.
Another guy on the boat got this one (Photo credit R. Varga).
Yes... I agree... Those are good items.
I used to pick out my pods from my mp filters. Not anymore.. I give them a chance to get out and then they are GONE.. LOL
About the QT... Yeah before you put anything in your own tank QT it. Just because it is in their tank does not mean that it is in your tank.
Much rather be safe than sorry.
He has lost about 5 fish. So... he is recovering and putting everything in a HT/QT. He will be fine it will just take some time.
I discovered the pods upon routine maintenance, in the sink. I left them there (as I was unsure to what they were).
Ordered stuff from BRS to make my QT &/or HT happen.
I, too, would rather be safe than sorry. (When I was a skydiving instructor, I would say: Better safe than 2-dimensional).
Yes, time. Nothing good happens quickly in reef-keeping. EVERYTHING happens quickly in skydiving ! ! !
Ready, Set, Go!
Thinking of a couple upgrades. LOL
Adding a second RO unit (with a pump in between) in line with the existing RO unit. In other words, put a RO unit on the waste line of the first (my understanding is that you don't need to run it through the pre filter a second time). Still looking into that . . . There is a thread on my local reef club: DVRC. Some are claiming 1:1 - RO:Waste.
I was also thinking about adding another Radion Pro or two on the main tank. If I rotate the lights 90 deg, I can get another 1 or 2 in there.
Thoughts? Overkill?
I am also toying with the idea of replacing the external overflows to accommodate a 3rd drain & convert to a bean animal (ie silent, as silent, I am not) Or drill the side of the existing overflow? Still need to bounce that one of my guy.
