zoom lens

Ive got a Canon Rebel XT and im looking for help choosing a new lens. Ive got the 18-55mm lens that came with it and I recently bought a Tamron 90mm... Im going on vacation soon and wanna get a zoom lens but theres alot of them out there and im not sure exactly what to look for!Any help or suggestion? Incase you cant tell im a total photography noob =p

Adding the 70-200 f/4 would round out that kit nicely. The non-IS version is a real bargain and it's pretty compact.

haha yea I might have to do that! keep the suggestions coming! dont really have $650 for a lens right now lol anything more affordable?

Thanks for the recomendation! ill keep it in mind (in the future) but my budget is around $300 and im only looking for an upgrade from my current standard 18-55mm lens

Im not affraid to buy used or on ebay, craigslist ect. I guess what im wanting to know is what to look for when choosing the lens.
