285 gallon mixed reef

more fish added and a new blue goni!

clown tang

purple tang. the purple tang was damaged in transit to the store on the fin on the left side of it's body. it has been in fish collection for over two months now and is fat and healthy. i ended up getting this particular purple tang because it had the greatest personality. only waited so long to make sure the fin would grow back.

i also got a blue goni. it was open at fish collection, but has yet to open in my tank. you get a picture of how intense the blue is though with this shot.

these zoas grew out nice. the brown looking palys in the lower left are actually a green color with GOLD speckles. definately bringing some of those to MNS 7.

i was mostly messing around with camera settings.

come july 20... i will finally get to use the light fixture i paid for. damn PFO and all their delays.

Great thread!! Love to see and hear more about your experience with LEDs. Any reason that you chose Solaris over aquaillumination? I will be purchasing a 72" fixture in the next couple of months and would appreciate any thoughts.

i chose solaris because i got quite a deal on the fixture.
most sps are doing great except my montis because i had high phosphates.

collected scooter blenny eggs last night. looked at them under a loupe 3 hours after fertilization and saw one cell. this morning there are four cells in the eggs. it will now be exponential growth. i will experiment with coral frenzy in this first batch of eggs because it is smaller than rotifers and more rich in nutrients. i wont have results until saturday or sunday though, because even though eggs hatch tonight, they dont grow eyes or a mouth until saturday.

pictures coming :)

Fragglereef mini "mini" carpet anemones have great color!

thankyou. the stylo is doing great as of right now. its growing slower than i expected though... while other sps are growing like beasts. most likely because its out of direct light though.

Well this thread was never updated. Here's an update. Yesterday was a re-scape and I tossed around 200 pounds of LR. Here's the end result:

Thank prodbio for keeping this re-scape smooth.

What was the reason for removing so much LR?

mostly because i got tired of the whole big pile of rocks put in by a blind guy look. :lolspin:

i wanted to go for a more refined look really, and taking a lot of rock out was needed.
