Curt,
As suggestion regarding your checkvalves. I have one as well, and it would have been much better had I put a ball valve above it so that when I want to clean it (which should be more often), I could just shut the valve and open the check valve up, without having my 1 story drain line dump on my basement floor. You don't have quite that much height, but still, open that valve and a bunch of water will dump out all over your expensive pumps. My 2cents.

Larry picked it up at a garage sale :D !! Currently getting it flushed out. Pretty impressive unit!! Currently reads 42ppm on the water purity...but 0 on my TDS meter. Tells me our TDS meters have a lot to be desired as far as giving us sensitive accurate readings as to our RO water quality.

curt what the heck is that high tech unit?? any specs for us?

good idea bout the ballvalve above the checkvalve

Staining and finishing the outside cabinets today and tomorrow. Hope to up and running by the first part of next week. Will post some updated pics this weekend of the finished plumbing and cabinetry work around the tank.

Progress!!!! Water is going in the tank. I figure 3 days of filling from the RO unit. First pic is the tank in the bookshelves and cabinets as seen from the living room. The cabinet doors and trim around the tank are not yet in place.

The bracket for the lights. The holes were cut 1/4" smaller than the diameter of each light and the lights will be fastened to the top of the bracket. The bracket will be connected to a winch located in the attic so the whole unit can be raised and lowered.

Thanks for the updates! That bracket looks wild.

Just got my tank from James last weekend so I was particularly interested in this thread. My plumbing, holes for bulkheads etc. look very similar.

That's not a bulkhead in the front pane btw is it?

No, its a 2" valve I have left over....using it and some other heavy objects to weigh down the starboard until I get the LR in there. RO unit has been going now non-stop for 24 hrs. Tank is almost 1/2 full. Sump is still empty. I was initially afraid of some absorbtion from all the painting going on iaround my tank. Tested the roughly 250g in my tank with my TDS meter and have a zero reading....so no more worries!! Time to dig all those salt buckets out.

Interesting choice of material for your lighting bracket. I'm curious as to what type of lighting your are going to use on that tank. By looking at that bracket I'm a bit confused what you are going to be using. Tank looks great!

What about rust on the diamond plate?

Very nice tank BTW. Wish you best of luck with the final results. This tank can be TOM without any corals in it. :)

Working on a solution to the rust issue as we speak. I had a seal break on one of my dart pumps last night....dumped around 100g of salt water on my floor. It was the seal where the drive shaft enters the wet side of the pump....was gushing water this morning. Never a good sign when you wake up to your wife screaming about your #*$@ tank!!

My condolences!

Which part of the seal broke? The part on the impeller or the bracket?

Do you have any idea why it broke?

If the seal on my Hammerhead broke I would have at least $5000 damage in my house as 80% of my tank would drain!:(

Hey Curt- What's on the output of the 1" returns across the bottom? Strainers, locline?

Any chance you'd have other pics of the spraybars?

I know how you feel, I drained out more than a third of my tank onto the carpet overnight the other day... Although it was only a 40 gallon tank :D
