Hey buddy. "Radium Reef" sounds very promising. I'd love a 3x2x2. Corner overflows are ugly and take up a lot of space. I had one on my current tank. I ripped it out, plugged the holes on the bottom pane, drilled the back and fitted a sleek Oceanlife overflow. Looks much better and the space gained is awesome.
Since you have your current tank going nicely, take ALL your time setting up the new tank. All the things you dislike about the current tank, take your time and ensure the new tank doesnt have those things.
It's going to be a real slow build! I'm planning on doing something similar that Scotty did with the entrance reef in that I'll pre-cycle the rocks for a month or two with Bak and some phos remover so that they're basically as clean as you can possible imagine before they go anywhere near the tank!
I'm going to use the time really wisely and create everything exactly as I want. A large focus for me is going to be the stand layout with regards to accessibility as my current stand is **** for doing anything inside it :deadhorse1: Sump layout will be really simple and basic but as practical as possible
The overflow is something I definitely want to change, while it wouldn't bother me all that much it would be excellent to have a ghost overflow or something that is minimal and completely out of the way so that I get all that space back again!!
There are some amazing sumps available in the US...not sure if you can get similar stuff in in Aus.
Stands are pretty easy to build if you have the main wood working tools. If you know a buddy who can weld up a metal frame, that would be awesome due to the amount of space saved. Alternative is an aluminium frame. Either way, you then skin it yourself. otherwise the easier and cheaper option, but less space is a stand built out of wood.
There are some drop dead gorgeous and amazing sumps that one can get in the US but in Aus it's pretty much all just standard glass sumps built by whoever haha basically for me it just needs to be:
skimmer > live rock > return
With the zeo reactor in what ever section I think it will be best! The live rock will not be lit either so a cryptic area, might try and get some cool sponges and such!
The stand, I would like to get a steel or aluminium frame as that would be best and most space efficient and they would look a little nicer in tying into the room the tank will be located in but I'll need to do some sourcing and pricing to see what turns up!
Either way it's going to be a nice slow, well thought out build and I'm going to make everything as silent as possible. Overflow in particular!
Congrats on a new tank "in the works"! Fun times ahead :celeb1:
Thanks mate! Fun times indeed!!
Sahin is right Dom, you should set it up exactly how you want it buddy so if you want to move the overflow i'll give you a hand. Drilling new holes never makes me nervous - especially when it's someone else's tank...........

Seriously though, if you want to move the overflow i'll show you how to remove the old one without scratching the side panel and drill the tank for you if you're nervous about having a
crack at it yourself.
I'm probably going to need a lot of help from you :uhoh3: a lot of this is new to me but I've got plenty of things whooshing around in my head, just have to pick which ones  haha
I might take you up on that lol, I got some plans from a mate about a ghost overflow and it looks pretty nice but I'm going to do a little more research on it
lol ... I saw on the FB groups that you were being "pushed" into buying the tank Dom ... well done mate
Haha yes I did get a little bit of a cheer squad going for me to get it, along with a few friends send me a message to say do it too! I'll go out on a limb and say you're Ben S?
Next tanks gonna be *****in' just saying!
haha thanks Nils, I'm hoping it will be!
