a simple sps tank

So my "branching habbit" hit the tank again guys:D
I wanted for some time,to give a bit more height to the left side of the left island and yesterday i found the time to do it:wildone:

The new branch shaded my red mille and i had to change it's spot,so i relocated to the right island!
Something that in the end of the day i really really liked, eventough it wasn't my original plan:)
I've one more small branch to play with but i think i won't use it!This might be the final aquascape.
Now i'll focus to improve the color of some corals:(
...here are some of my tragic(like you didn't know that:p:p) pics

Happy New Year to you Mike.

How are you?

Very nice aquascaping and really poor photos. And I thought I was a bad photographer :-)

Krzysztof

Mike... ...You need to up your game with your photography mate...I think it should be your new years resolution. :D

Lookin' groovy Mike! I can't wait to this in another year after all those stags grow out.

Boy o boy... It's not enough, anymore to have a nice tank. You have to be a pro photographer, now as well! Geeeesh! :)
Love to see an update!

hi guys...missed ya !!!!!!
Sorry for my absense but for the last months i was without a pc and was forced to use internet from my mobile.....something that i hate!
Santa was kind enough to bring me a new one : fun4:
Happy new year to everybody!!!I hope you had a good time and enjoyed the holidays!

:lmao:
You are so right about me krzystof but wrong about you!You are an amazing photographer,i wish i was half as good buddy!
Really glad you like the aquascape!

On the other hand you are bad because you made me jealus and "made" me spent money on a good reactor and changing my np pellet into all in one!
Been using them for almost 3 weeks now and i'm waiting to see the differences.
If it wasn't for your amazing tank i'd be some $'s richer or a couple xbox games heavier:lmao:

Thanks for that!:-)

Happy New Year to you Mike.

Hi sahin my dear friend:beer:
Happy new year!

Thank god i'm good and had lovely holidays!
Now that i enjoy technology again i'm happier!
I know,i know.....but i blame krzystof...if he hadn't made me jealus maybe i'd put the money on a new camera:fun4:
I can promise though, that i'll try to improve:-)

Lookin' groovy Mike! I can't wait to this in another year after all those stags grow out.
Thank you so much greg, happy new year!
I can't wait too.I hope this year will pass without any serious problems and corals will grow big!
Minimal approach and frags can really test your patience skills and level:mad:
With all these changes in pellets and some more "branching" and coral relocating, everything was a bit unhappy but no loses. It short of "froze" some of the growth but i think it's coming back!
Thanks again!

Will borrow a camera from a friend of mine and see if i can do better.Maybe i'll throw some photo adjusting too,in there and see what happens:-)
Will upload some pics soon!

Hey Mike : wave:

Happy New Year my friend I hope all is well : )

Love to see an update too buddy ; )
Hi scotty buddy!Happy new year too:beer:
All is well my good friend,i was just pc-less!
Tank is going allright(i wouldn't say no to some better colors and faster growth, though, lol).
On december 24th big balls became one year old(in my tank-think he was 4-5 mo when he was caught) and i can't believe how fast time flies!
Quasimodo is trying to become beautiful but.....it's in vain...:-)
I'm trying to keep things steady and get aio to work so the colors will improve.
You'll see what i mean in the pics to come.
Glad to see you again guys!

How high do you keep your fixture off the water by chance? Just curios! Thanks again
Hi jared,happy new year!
I used some wire. The one we put on our bike breaks

happy new year!
haha i actually meant as in 4-10" off the water... just wondering as i have the same light and feel like the light bakes sps coral when hung low

Happy new year to you too perry buddy:beer:
I really really am a crappy photographer...and it comes so natural my friend, could say it's almost a skill:p:p

What you said about the living photo is one of my dream and i wish i can make it true one day buddy!
It would be sooooo awesome if i could visit one/or many(even better) of you guys or vice versa!
We where close to do that last year with sahin but my work didn't allow me :sad2:

happy new year!

hahaha,my bad jared:lmao::lmao:
I just measured it and it hangs 16cm(6,3" i think:o ) above water level.
I've the same feeling too especially when i change bulbs or the water is crystal clear. Then i just raise the light a bit to see if there will be any difference.
If your nutrients are low and you see them brown out, maybe it's too low.
At what distance do you think it can create problems?4-5 cm?

I have the 8x80 watt 60" fixture and Ive had it around 5" off the water and some of my sps had insane colors while others were very pale and I know it's not a nutrient issue so I raised the light to 10" and everything just exploded with color. Its funny how it's small things like that. Thanks for measuring that I just wanted to see how everyone was hanging theres

no big deal buddy,my pleasure:beer:
Yeah you are right, small details like that can make a big difference and have huge impact on our corals.
Thanks for sharing that:thumbsup:

Cleaned up all my pumps today and changed their positions.....needless to say that after it, i spend most of the day trying to figure out the best combination regarding their modes:o

Tomorrow i'll get some pics :hmm4:...crappy ones i swear:headwally:

Damn Mike, the reef is looking great mate. Your rock scape is one of my favorites on RC just so ya know

Been a year since you last posted a pic mate............. A YEAR Mike ! :p

Glaukos, you can get decent pics even with a smartphone(if that is what you are using), here is how.
1) First I have found that taking a picture as soon as you open the camera. A few seconds later the blue starts to increase. You can also turn of your dawn dusk blues while taking the picture to decrease the blue in the shot.
2) Keep the tank only in the frame, the lights will throw off the color balance.
3) once you have the shot, use Biggles incredibly helpful tutorial to post correct the photos. It's located here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=23332879&postcount=116
Using the guide, I adjusted one of your shots:

picture.php

With a better source photo you can really make the pics look good and true to life.
