a simple sps tank

I always thought using Carbon while dosing a carbon source was a good idea..
Perry or Matt are your guys to answer questions about dosing
Why is that matt? Not questioning or doubting you off course buddy, just wondering what you specifically mean.
I'll probably start slowly just in case my tank doesn't react good, like it did the last time.
I really think water gets a bit yellow, eventhough my WCs are only 2 weeks apart and i love the clear water carbon usage gives:p

Beside the issues i dealt with, the last time i used carbon, another thing which makes me skeptical about it is that up until today i'm not 100% sure what carbon, can and will absorb in general.
I mean, maybe it absorbs some or part of the stuff i dose with the AF's products.
But on the other hand if that was the case, the company would recommend not to use one:rolleye1:
I guess AF's carbon is exactly the same as the other brands,i don't think it's different in any way.(?)

Mike, I am using the combined zeolites, carbon, and Phosphate minus method in one reactor, it is working well for me and it's easy- just change the whole thing every two weeks. The rest of your dosing looks good, since you are doing regular water changes the MicroE isn't as necessary. If you wanted to use it at full dose, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. The mix of elements in it are very good for color.
So matt every two weeks you change all three materials?
I already use tunze's silphos(based on iron,in a sock and high flow area) but not in a reactor.I wonder if the reactor i have laying around could handle tossing both in there.Maybe i'll try it.

Do you have a pic in your thread of your reactor matt?
Thanks for the advices,much appreciated:beer:

Sorry, typo. I change every four weeks:

In my general research, way back when, into biopellets, I remember reading about the benefits of using Carbon when dosing a Carbon source, just to help eliminate some of the bacterial waste produced. (Yes, that's vague.. Sorry)
I'm pretty sure carbons all remove the same things.. Maybe some are more efficient than others.
It'll probably remove a bit of the things you are adding but it's most efficient at keeping the water clear which in turn lets the light penetrate your water better.
It will remove some iodine and iron for sure..
I've been using it regularly, lately..

Agree with everything matt, thanks for going into all the trouble of writing them my friend!
I did put some carbon in my reactor too!
Water was crystal clear before that so i'm pretty sure i won't have the same problems like the last time:p

It's only two weeks guys i've been using AF so it's too early to say or be sure of anything:)
Did my regular WC today so some of my sad pics!Sorry for the bombing:(

Hi guys,i was fooling around with my mobile and i got that pic.Played a bit with a photo editor and that's what i came up with.I love it when the orange tear starts getting bigger and washes away the black skin:inlove:
Ragnar:p
They both grow sooo fast!Emp's yellow color and lines are showing more and more each day.

I also took a camera pic....sad sad sad try...as usuall, plus some never ending coral relocating :fun5:

I'll go back some pages and see the pic adjusting advises i got from you guys.Photobucket has some nice options....oh,what a caveman i still am.Just discovered them:p

Thanks bud:beer:
Really happy you like it!
Can't wait for the corals to grow and make it more dramatic.

The dude is crazy:p
Today as i put my hand in the tank, for one more(can't even remember how many times i've said that :p ) "last" coral location swapping,he bite my hand.
At least that was what i thought but in the next "encounters" i saw that this guy was just nipping my arm hair's:uhoh3:
That's one messed up emp:p
