A Smart? Aquarium in Taiwan...

What do you use for KCL. I see many pure powders sold for human consumption, I guess this is fine. Does it raise PH?

I did not observe PH change by KCl solution add, but my PH always high (8.5 ~8.8 w/ or w/o KCl) if no CO2 mixed to skimmer.

Hello Shih

Very nice build. I am really sorry it took so long for me the get to it ...

Can I ask you a question? how did you attached the light fixture cable to the motor? Do you have a photo by any chance?

All the best,
Rui

Hello Shih,

Thanks for the pictures.

... it's exactly that "cable is screw in this iron tube" detail I am looking for ...

I have already all the parts and I can't figure out how to attach it without hurting the cable (and eventually break it)

All the best,
Rui

Yes, just screw in the metal directly. You may need better quality screws, but I think only because I live in Taiwan worry that, in US, HomedDepot or other HW stores should be fine. Haha....
BTW, I attach with two screws instead of one. Just feel safer.

I will share a photo with cable later after I back home. Sorry for late.

Happy Chinese New Year . Amazing tank.
Would like to ask why do you dose AF ABC if you are doing water changes .All the trace e!emets are there in the salt and if regular water changes is done is it required to dose AF ABC .

Happy Chinese New Year! Great build and def lots of elements I hope to emulate for my new setup! Noticed that you do not have any wavemaker in the visible side of the tank, how is the flow from the other end?

very nice tank! have some very nice colonies in there. that time lapse picture is awesome

Thanks. I think I still have more coral from Indonesia than I want to, and less Fuji and Austria than I hope, still working on it:)

With dense hard coral and most are grow craze, I think just water hangs won't catch up their comsume. Some element are just less than you want in most of salt if you want some specific results. For example, Iodian for blue and Sr for grow. Just my thought.

I had thought about the other side, but then I found with some adjust on my pump direction, the bounce back flow is ok, maybe something to do with my rock placement, which there is a big hole to let water through, and the condition of coral on that side stand that point. However, if there are good way to put two wave maker there, I may give it a try.

Icic, I was all thinking of following what you are doing and put 2 mp40s on each side of the overflow end. But the mp40s can't be adjusted for angle though. Peninsular style tank will also be nicer without the wavemaker on the viewing side with the cables I guess.

A new tank almost ready. Welcome suggestions and comments....
Where it is today"¦. KZ 14 days method will be used as last tank.

HI, wonderful tank and build. Congratulations.
I was wondering how you fix these removable doors on your cabinet?
Can you give some more details?

With a sump area so clean, you should use acrylic doors... :eek1:

No problem... I found the door engineering on page 3 of the thread... genius carpenter you have/are.

Yes, that is the major reason that I did not use MP40. I recently plan to order Neptune WaV set to try, I hope its feature that when sense obstacle, pump will stop work for me to avoid pump become sea anemone killer. Not sure. Anyone know will it work!?

I used to have my dosing system very organized, but a few times maintaining the old GHL DOSE1 (really don't like its quality, and LCD only, no WiFi), and recent swap from 100% KZ to KZ+Af mixed, many cut corner happen and my dosing system start looks awful (see "before" picture). I take the Chinese New Year holiday to make some improvement and thank God the GHL Dose2 and 2.1 are wifi-able (but GHL myGHL is still awfully slow compare to Apex Fusion)
