Someday, someplace, you will find an auto alkalinity device is crucial and just once, it all pay off…..Lately, I am traveling between UK and US multiple times from 3 days to a week. That gives me very limited time to take care my tank.
About 10 days ago, I hurry mixed new baking soda solution and refilled my almost empty container… After that, I keep seeing my KH value drop from the log of my auto alkalinity monitor device (KHG). I even bought all three new test kits (Hanna, Redsea, and Salifert) to check my alkalinity, and they all agreed my KH reading from KHG. I was so stubborn believing I must mixed wrong ratio of baking soda this time or my coral has great grow these days… Hahaha…
So...... my reaction is to increase dosing volume on my Apex DoS setting, from original 45 ml/hr all the way to 75 ml/hr, but KH still dropping.
Until yesterday, while I already thousand miles away from home (I am in UK now actually), I realised it does not make sense since I just increased to a unbelievable high dosing volume as 95 ml/hr before I left home, and KH still dropping rapidly. I was shock!!!
After a few minutes cool down myself and recheck, I found the mistake I made. I accidentally turn my KH dosing from “auto” to “off”….. What the XXXX
Thanks God after I correct it (change to “auto”), reduce dosing back to 45 ml/hr after two big dose of 90 ml, and then run alkalinity twice after that, my alkalinity seems back to normal.
I am so happy to see the aquarium technology move to this level that I can remotely correct mistake and avoid coral tank crush.
Red box shows I add some backing soda directly to tank to raise KH manually before I left home, and the last four readings show tank KH drop rapidly in 18 hours
No KH DoS indicator from Apexfusion UI
Found my Apex DoS setting accidentally in "off" mode
Change Apex DoS setting to "auto" mode
KH recovery
