looks like it's still working - 5% off. here's the code for the lazy: RC0803

thanks for bringing this up Matt. i was about to get it for $63 off ebay. might as well support a sponser for only a couple of bucks more.

Anyone know what the par is for the 12k compared to the 10k? On the old CV bulbs there was a huge hit in terms of par going from 10k to 12k.

Is anyone running these on PFO standard ballasts? We have two dual PFO standard ballasts powering 4 250w 10K XM's at the moment and we're considering changing to these Reeflux. What do you all think?

I'm hoping Sanjay will do some tests and add stats to his reef lighitng page. http://www.reeflightinginfo.arvixe.com/

I have a pair of Reeflux 12k lamps and 10k lamps and the 10k lamps look far brighter. Not a scientific test in any way but, visually, the 12k lamps don't compare in terms of brightness.

I can't remember if I've posted a picture of one of my tanks with Reeflux 12k lamps in this thread. So here's a pic. Hopefully it will help.

I've run the Reeflux 10k on a PFO HQI ballast but not a standard PFO. On the HQI the Reeflux is certainly not, visually, as intense as the XM. If you're looking for the Reeflux to be similar in intensity you might be disappointed.

Now that being said, the Reeflux lamp is far better looking in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of the "yellowish" tones the XMs produce. The Reeflux lamp seems to be more "white". The Reeflux 10k has a huge spike at the 450-460nm range. The XM has a smaller spike at 420nm.

So I guess I'd summarize it this way. If you're looking for the brightest 250 watt SE lamp you can get the XM is probably still the way to go. If you want something less yellow but still obviously a 10k lamp check out the Reeflux 10k. I like the way it makes my corals look better.

Hope this helps.

Phishlet, in your pic, the blue tang is purple instead of blue. I think the colors are great, but not accurate. Some of my corals are happy with the reeflux 10k bulbs, but it seems they were better with 10k ushios. IMO

I'm not sure why the blue tang shows up that way. Other than the tang the colors do look pretty accurate. Notice the orange and white in the copperband and the magenta and yellow of the royal gramma off to the left. The lamps are a nice crisp "whiteish" color with obvious blue.

Look around at almost every other picture posted of a blue tang on the internet. I'm not sure what it is about them, but they come out purple about 90% of the time. I wouldn't judge the accuracy of the tank and coral colors by the blue tang.

^^^

Just ordered mine! (DE 250W)

I'm really interested to see the difference between the P14 and this (IC driven).....

cool...are the colors in pic. accurate to in person?
I just ordered my 12K's today, they'll be here tomorrow & I am also running T5 actinic(single 48")

Those colors are very close to correct, as close as I can get, if anything still on the blue side from real life
The bulbs are very bright, and the corals are all growing nice
