After looking at pics of the bulb on this thread, it does look like it is a Reeflux.

Just waiting for a reply from the vendor. :(

I'm wondering if this is even a Reeflux bulb. Is all it says on the bulb is MHT 250 W 10,000 K

Kevin, The current Reeflux MH bulbs are not stamped wih the Reeflux name. However, the standard line of Coralvue MH SE bulbs do have Coralvue stamped on them.

Does anybody know if there would be a problem if I ran the bulb with the little piece of broken glass inside the bulb?

Thanks

Why would it have a peice of broken glass inside. I think its ok as long as the outside glass is cracked. Then there is an explosion risk.

The pieces came from the glass tube that goes around a metal rod. I'm assuming it protects the rod from heat.

It's only two 1/8"X1/8" pieces.

I 'd gotten a bulb in once that had a cuple pieces of small glass inside it. I called and they said it didn't hurt anything to go ahead and fire it up. I never had a problem with the bulb, I think it was a XM but not positive.

Exact same bulb...exact same pieces of broken glass...exact location (about 1/4" from the end of the glass rod).

Positioned all broken pieces at the end of the bulb. Been running a couple months now with no trouble.

If you fire it up and something bad happens though, don't blame me. :D

Did you ever hear back from the vender? That way if you have a problem, they should make good on it for you. I think you'll be fine.

Can you say way brighter than my old EVC's?

My greens went bye bye, and the bulb is on the yellow side, but it only has 15 minutes of burn in. :)

On IC ballasts, after about 1.5-2 months...very white with just a tinge of pink (really unoticable to most...just to the 'trained' eye :eek2: ), but definately makes all the blues in the tank 'pop'...especially blue shrooms and the growing tips of sps. Brings out just a bit more of the fluorescence than my XM10K's...so far, I like the bulb better than my XM 10K's. No yellow to speak of really, but its been a while since I've seen em on without VHO actinics.

As for reettanksupply raising their prices. Nuts. I was going to buy from them, but now that they've raised their prices I'll buy from another vendor that I do most of my business with. Unless they'd care to drop their prices. . . :D

I just purchased mine from reef exotics (very nice people over there by the way, and the owner even invited me over to see their 400 gal SPS dominatred tank), and since they are located in NY and I am in NJ, they will be here tomorrow.:D how cool is that:cool:

I Am not surprised at all smoknreefrs, I also have found reef exotics to have exceptional service and prices. This company is going to thrive because of this. I, personally, have had e-mail responces faster than lightning from them, and recommend them whole heartedly!
