It's amazing the variation in color of the same light with different ballasts. Looks like I will be ordering 10k. Thanks for the comparison pix.:)

I just changed to 10k Venture bulbs and too blue for me. Does anyone know if these change to more white after they burn for a while?
you should try 10k four your supplemental lighting. I'm doing that right now, for Me it was easier to lighten up a bulb that is too blue. Then trying to compensate for a bulb that is too yellow.

Nice comparison pics.

My 10k's with EVC ballast seem to fall in the middle color wise, compared to your pics.

I should take a pic of a 20k Radium on the e-ballast and the 10k Reeflux.

I'm going to order 2 Reeflux 12k's on my next order this week and I'll take some comparison pics of those when I get them.

The reason I chose the RF ballast is because I got one heck of a deal on them and according to SanJay's site they are a 12k color temp a PPFD value in the 90's, which is more then on the IC ballast.

Okay I got my 250w RF e-ballast wired up today.

Here is a picture of the 10k on the HQI ballast (left) and the 10k on the RF e-ballast (right). As you can see it has a nice hint of blue, I like it, its just as bright as the left side but a little more aesthetically appealing.

Well, just ordered a pair reeflux 10ks w/ the RF e-ballast. Coloring looks exactly what I want.

I'll be sending you a bill for ~$330.

anyone tried the 10K on IceCaps? I'm hoping it will look similar to the Reef Fanatic like elephen's pic...

IC here....looks great!

Do they look the same as the picture above that shows the bulb on the RF e-Ballast?

Just my thoughts on the much over rated PAR subject

While there is no disputing that PAR is an important aspect of reef aquarium lighting I believe that there is way too much emphases put into this and we are losing focus on other valuable aspects to our corals long term health. The supposed higher PAR bulbs that I have used are all ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œPeeââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ yellow and look nothing like any natural reef that I have ever seen both in person and in pictures! I would like to know where is there a natural reef that has 365 days of solid uninterrupted sunlight?? I really donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t care what the supposed experts have to say, what I do know is that there is something other than PAR that needs to be focused on more closely than just high PAR readings. I have used both XM and Ushio in the past and to me this is not a natural looking light source. I noticed over time with these lamps corals starting to brown out and look dull, just not healthy? I have also tried the 14K and 20K bulbs on the market and they seem to make everything look too blue and dim! What I have seen in the ReefLux bulbs is a color that looks very natural and my corals have never looked healthier or more colorful. While the expects may say it is not the highest rated PAR bulb. What about the other aspects of these bulbs that need to be discussed? Why are these subjects never discussed in detail? If PAR is the only thing we are going to look at in metal halide lighting than we all may as well go back to only using Iwasaki 6500K bulbs or some 4000K commercial MH bulbs that we can get from Home Depot and flood them with VHOââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s to balance the color out. I am going to let my eyes and corals tell me what is right and what is not!

I just started to burn 10k reeflux 250w on IC e-ballast. It looks little pinkish. When will it be settled down or how long?
