Radiums look nice overdriven, never seen them on a e-ballast.

Maybe post some pics when you get them.

400w Radiums on bluelines.

Sexy, I just love the Radiums. Yours looks really nice on those BL e-ballast! Kodak camera? What model?

Kodak DX 6490, how'd you know?

Hey guys, I installed the replacement bulbs last night and I think I'm happy now:

They are not as blue as before but they are consistent and I think brighter than the XM10K's I used to use.

I just installed my replacements as well. I went with the 12k's and the color is UNREAL! I just hope the growth is there.........

I just ordered two 10k's, hopefully I don't run into the problems some of you are having. Sounds like they stand behind them at least.

ricka- still seems a bit pink to me and no hint of blue, but maybe its just me. atleast it is consistent now :)

want2reef- when did they said they'd send out the replacements?

I would of kept mine if I had the money to spend on a nice VHO setup to flood out the pink.

...a nice VHO setup to flood out the pink.
ARO VHO ballasts are cheap...wire 'em up yourself with some nice waterproof endcaps...not a difficult DIY project. Can have dual VHO actinics retro'ed for about $100 or so bucks, including bulbs.

Whether you want to "flood out the pink" or not, its a good idea to run some VHO actinics along side your MH's...but then again, I don't know what hood/canopy/lighting system you've got running now.

TA- Right now have SLS BW7 dual 250w HQI ballast running 20k Radiums so even with VHO's on or off you can't notice a difference at all with the halides on. The Radiums run at a 15k color on an HQI ballast.

Also my brother runs a local thing here so I get everything at wholesale. Been pricing them out but I would rather spend my money on something I'll get more use out of since atinics don't do anything with Radiums.

Soon I'll be upgrading to dual Lumenarc III's so I probably will drop all atinics unless I can come up with a cleavar hidden design that'll not let any light spill out into the room and direct it only into the aquarium.

Any ideas on that?

As soon as they get mine. Should be today.

Post some pics, I'm interested in seeing what the 12k's look like. Your running yours on e-ballast right?

I think the pink is from my camera. It looks much whiter in person.

I am running the 12ks and love the color. The first time with these new bulbs (switched from Hamilton 20ks) I ran them for 4 hrs. The next night only 1 bulb would light. I assumed wrong that my mag. ballast broke so I ordered a coralvue e ballast. Finally got that hooked up and the bulb still wouldn't light. Long story short, I called an electrician. The socket for the bulb was fried. He replaced that and the bulb still wouldn't light. Turns out the blown socket blew the new eballast. Much to my surprise, there is nothing wrong with the mag. ballast.
I am assuming (I know, I know :) that I am just going to eat the cost of the eballast, right? Or is that fixable?

Are you sure it's fried? I know with mine it takes 10 minutes to start up. If it is you could contact vue tech and ask if they will take a look at it.

The electrician used a voltage meter on the fried ballast and got no reading. I will contact coralvue today and see what they say.
