FYI, next time I plan on purchasing the 12K bulbs. I like the 10K but I really liked the blue that I saw when I had different color bulbs.

That's what I may try to do...I usually run a combo of 10K and 20K with the thought being 10K=growth and 20K=color. Not sure if that's right or not, but it had worked well for me before with 10K Ushios and 20K radiums, so that may be what I end up going back to.

Anyone using these bulbs may want to post updated pics. Especially if you are using the 400w versions or 12k versions. I'd love to see more tanks with these on them before considering a purchase.

Well I got my bulbs(RL10K) today, been running for about an hour on IC ballast. They do have a pink hue to them. Hopefully that will go away once they burn in more. FYI-The inner bulb envelope has the white ends.

I bought them from reefexotics.com. Do you think I should return them or will they burn better after burn-in?

Hmm.. It is all up to you, do you like the color that they are giving off now? Becz they will not change that much after burn in, that is my oponion...

I didn't, i like the color that they give off on the newer bulbs, you can call reefexotics or just call coralvue..... Either one... They are both great places and I am sure you will get what you want...

Hi Folks,

I just replaced my XM10K with the Reeflux 12K, I'm liking the bluer bulb as this is my highest K rating yet, but I noticed that on my purple tip nana it's blue and my pink birds nest is kinda bland now. Is this normal? My blues and greens are rocking though :).

Any other with the same experience?

I was pretty active in this thread when it originally was started. I have had the reeflux bulbs for the past 8 months. For about the first 3-5 weeks, the 10K bulbs have an intense blue that really makes some of the zooantellae colors pop. Unfortunately, this dims out and there isn't as noticable of a vibrancy to them. They are still pretty cool and cheaper than radiums, but my tank still needs supplimentation for color. :(

Are you running two bulbs in each of those Lumenarcs?

Yah. You can see a pic with all four lights on in my gallery. I have a radium and a xm10k in each reflector. Had the reflectors drilled custom for my by PGS. The look is ok, but they do colorstripe. The center of my tank is a good blend, front is white/blue, back is white/yellow. I'm going to blend 20k lights with evc 14k lights next time around.

When I compare my RL 10k right next to my old XM10k, the XM actually looked like it had a hint of blue and the Reeflux a hint of pink. But now that I'm running both Reeflux I dont really notice any pink and I like the way it looks, a nice crisp white w/ nice colors on blues/greens/yellow. The only color that is not too hot is red but that could just because my red open brain (only good red I have in tank) has been under old MH bulbs for too long.
I'll see how it looks in a few months. Maybe switch to the 12K (assuming less PAR) next bulb change after my corals have grown some under the 10Ks.

I have been running (5) 400 watt 10k Reeflux bulbs on IceCap ballast for 3 months now. I am also supplementing w/ blue actinics on my system. The coral growth is great, but the tank looks very pink!! Has anyone else experienced this?

If so, did you find a way to elevate the problem?

Thanks

Mine have been running for about3 months also, colors were awesome for 3 weeks then no more POP!!! I guess it is HIT or MISS on these bulbs, that equates into poor manufacturing process. Some people talk of great pinks or reds, then some talk of greens and blues. There seems to be no stability ot quality control. MY 2 cents.

If the inner bulb ends is white then it is going to have a hint of pink, if the inner bulb ends is clear then they will have a hint of blue in them...

WOW,

Great, thanks for the picture. Mine have the white on the inner bulb. So, I guess that explains it. I will try to get one with clear next time..

No problem.... I didn't like the pinkish tint to it so coralve replace the ones that were white ends for me, when i bought mine, they were mixed...

are those the 250watt versions?
the 400 watts all look like the right side
the 400 watt coral vu looks like the bulb on the left
the new reeflux comes in a blue box & says 400 mh 10k. the first ones , which are pinkish just say 400 mh on it & comes in a white box. i like the lastest ones so far. the blues are not too exagerated and the color is not pinkish
