I am not aware of this with the DE, i am sure this would still be the case but you would have to confrim with coralve...

I've been running the 250w SE RL 10k for a little while now and like them for the most part. I just recently added a RL 12k to the midle MH and fell in love with the color. Nice blueish white light and the coral colors look very nice.
I think once my RL 10ks need replacing I will go with all RL 12ks instead.

Yea the 12k are nice, but i did notice a difference in growth when I did run for them a little while...

It all depends on what you want, a blueish look to water or white / blueish look with really good growth...

I must say i am somewhat dissapointed in my 12 se reeflux bulbs. I am using a 250w hqi ballast though. THey dont burn as blue as i would like. They are alot better than the xm 10ks on a hqi they burn really yellow to my eye. I think the hqi burns bulbs alot different than a regular magnetic or a electronic. I would like them better on electronics but i would miss some of the brightness. I have tried to get pics of these on my tank but cant get it to look right. Kevin

Does anyone have recent pics of there RL 12K.

I just took this pic last night of my 120g with 250w 12k Reeflux SE's on ARO electronic ballasts. Tried to get as honest a color as I could given my camera and photography skills, but have to say this pic still looks a bit more blue than the tank does in person. It's pretty close, though. These bulbs are 9 months old now. I have mainly just small frags of SPS right now that are busy encrusting their bases, but they "seem" to be ok with the light. The monti cap has been going crazy under them.

Thanks for the pic Dave. They do look really blue from the pic. But I know its hard to get good pics of blue bulbs. Over all do you like them? Have you ever run 10K's before?

Thanks
Bryan

This is my first set of MH bulbs since getting into the hobby a couple years ago. I spent a lot of time looking at pics on here and at local reefers' tanks who were running 10k bulbs and they were always too yellow to me, unless they ran a lot of actinic supplement. I tend to like a hint of blue to the tank, but am not real fond of the very blue look, so I was trying to find a nice balance. I was also on a very tight budget and wanted to try and find something I could run by themselves and not have to pay for supplemental bulbs and ballasts. Read about these 12k Reeflux and decided to take a shot with them. Have to say I love the look of the tank with them. I can't honestly say just how well growth is with them as I'm pretty new to the SPS world, so my view on it could be off....but things ARE growing.

Here is an example. I got this Michael Palletta blue acro frag in June I think it was. The first pic was right after I got it. The second pic was taken a few weeks ago, so maybe 2 months or so growth, so maybe you can tell me how good this is. Also, I'm still getting myself together with my other water parameters, so those would play a role in its growth too...anyway, here's the pics:

I'd say that is pretty good growth for 2 months. I think I.m going to try the 12K's this go around. I like the 10K RF but I want alittle more blue. Thanks man.

Cool. Hope they work for you. btw, mine were considerably more blue the first week or two, but then lightened up afterwards.

I really like my 12k DEs on Icecaps. Im getting some good growth on my sps. I think I get better growth with it than the Ushio 14ks I use to run honestly. Here are a couple of pics. The first pic was taken at the end of Jan 06 using Ushios 14ks

I changed out the Ushios for RF 12k at the end of March 06. This is a pic of my tank taken a few days ago.

Colors are so much better too.

So I read through this thread an decided to give the reeflux 10k's a try. I got them from reef exotics who actually boasts that they have the clear ended arc tubes, and what I received were just that. At first fire up I was almost floored by what I was seeing. Nice white a hint of blue and colors poping out that I had almost never seen before. Now three days later these bulbs are unbelievably pink. I have ice cap 250 ballasts. These are not the white ended arc tube bulbs. Will this pink actually turn back to blue during burn in? If not I would have to say the arc tube end color does not determine if the bulb will be pink or blue. Have people running the clear ended bulbs experienced that dramatic of a shift during burn in on ice caps? These things are super pink after three days. Not blue at all. But they were for one day.

I have the 10k's on the coralvue e-ballast. They are great. I am going to try the 12k's next time around.

The 10k's are pretty bright white. My gallery has a pretty accurate photo. Though that is with 320 watts of vho actinic.

YES...It took awhile for the pink to go away. I don't see it anymore but my bulbs are going on a year old. I hated them at first but the blues looked so good I kept them. I still like them, but I don't think I will buy them again.

How long till most pink was gone? Months? Are they white or white/blue now?
