anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

One major difference between Vortech MP40 and Jebo WP40, besides the noise (I agree MP is noisier as I own 2) is MP's propeller never stops but in certain modes of WP, the propeller comes to complete stop. I don't know if it is good or bad for the longivity of the pump. But since most people have to replace the wet side of the MP every couple of years, it is hard to say Vortech is better or more reliable.

Simon, I was thinking along those same lines on Sunday when I was playing around with equipment. I was using the W1 mode and thought to myself, "I can't imagine that starting and stopping can be all that good for the longevity of the pump", so I switched it to W2 mode. But now that I spend some time thinking about it, I think I'm going to change my opinion on that. It stops because it has no power, it's not like they are applying brakes to make it stop. And spinning back up from a stop or from low speed shouldn't be much different. So now I'm thinking W1 probably isn't any harder on the pump than W2 or W3.

BTW, have you figured out what the difference is between W2 and W3? I gave it a bit of a look when I got the pump and didn't see any difference.

You might want to read through the thread.

Yeah but that is a lot to read and I really dont have the time right now. It was a quick question with a simple answer. I already looked on the link to the WP40 and found nothing about a new smaller version.

Ron, I think the only way to tell the difference between W2 and W3 is to put the pump in a clean tank with nothing in it but water and play with the knob at different setting and patiently observe the flow pattern. I also can't tell the difference but I wasn't patient enough to give the pump time to show the differences in my DT.

There is no official word a smaller version is available soon but it is rumored one may be released sometime in April.

I bought one of these (just shipped today) and was trying to decide if I would be better off with two running lower power or one wide open for a 210gal softy tank. What would you suggest?

One More thing about pump stopping and restarting. I used to own Maxijet PHs controlled by my RKE to come on and off after so many seconds. Everytime it started, the pump made a distinct clicking or ticking noise. I went thru a few PHs with such setting. Then I bought a Polario 15ML pump which can reverse direction. I set it for every 15 sec. The pump ran 15 sec in one direction, stopped and reversed direction and ran for 15 sec and so on. The pump ran like that for almost 3 years with no problem when I sold it. I guess it is how the pump is designed so it is hard to say stop and go is bad for a pump.

My Korillas have been running that same way for over a year with no issues. I took the stops out so they randomly restart in different directions every 20-60 sec.

We are all busy and have better things to do than read. There is no smaller pump... yet. There are some options for the WP40 that may make it work for you... but you'll have to read.

I just got an email from Eric from Fish Street. He said he has seen the prototype of the WP25 at the factory but he has no information, specifications, and available date of the pump that can be released at this time:mixed:

It seems the availability of the smaller WP25 is not a "If" but "When".

Wp20 is plastered all over this thread. :headwallblue:
