I'd like to find out if the new Stream is a good fit for the tank-size. I've read that it may be pushing it for a 4-foot tank w/ a DSB, but I wanted to get some first hand accounts. My tank is mainly SPS with some LPS and softies (maybe 50/30/20).
Because you can dial down the flow I see no problem, I have used one in a 58 but the DSB was 2mm sand not sugar sand and it was fine. Probably need to post in Reef Discussions to get an answer.
I test fired my 6000 in a new 90g tank with only 2 inches of brand new sugar fine sand. I creates some small "tornados" of sand that were only an inch high or so. This was brand new sand with no life in it whatsoever. I don't think you would have any problems with an established dsb. As usual, your rockwork and pump placemend can affect your results.
Thanks for the input guys. Now for the real question ... where can I get one (6010)??? I've been on the waiting list with Marine Depot for many, many months.
Only 20 have come in to the country so it will take some time to get caught up. Tunze is a very small company and it just takes time to get pumps and products. Having built my own pumps when i visited I can say it takes a while, from components to boxed pump takes 1.5 man hours. It is not a mass market product. I hope to have more pumps to ship in a couple weeks.
Hey Roger, I'm not complaining. Just anxious. You guys build a great product and I'm more than happy to wait. Especially with the knowledge that someone is personally assembling a pump right now that may have my name on it!
