Breeding and Raising True Percula Clownfish

No more Leucs the last one I sold to Jimmy as well as the single Mcch. I have a pair of mature Latz now that lay eggs every couple weeks or so, but haven't tried to raise them. My friend is actually attempting the same with Allardis and think he's getting close. Maybe one day I'll attempt to raise frys. :)

That would be very interesting. I've seen your leucokranos at Jimmy's but have yet to see Allardi's in real life :)

Hard to tell from the pics, but 2nd stripes are coming in! This batch is 1 month + 1 week old today.

Looking good Jamie! Bought LEDs for my sump so I can transfer one of my clones downstairs! It'll need a nice pair of clowns!

Nice! Percs are still my favorite and my preference over all the designer clowns out there. Why mess with natural beauties? Keep up the great work!

I'm getting lots of inquiries about buying clownfish. I will make a for sale thread when they're ready. Right now, the November batch is still smaller than my pinky nail :)

I'm planning on keeping about 25-30 from the December batch to try a clownfish harem. I keep hearing and seeing so many people's success stories with clownfish harems that I finally bit the bullet and set up this tank in September to do one.

As for which anemones to keep in there, it's a toss up between giganteas and magnificas. Just waiting for the tank to mature for anemones, and clowns to grow.

That’s very cool Jamie. Do you have kids that are clowns, clowns that are kids or both? Congrats. Say hi to Tri

Very cool! I'd love a pair once they're ready!
I just lost my pair of 7 year old clownfish to the velvet that's currently wiping out my tank.

Wow that's going to be awesome Jamie

I'm super excited about it. I've been wanting to put a clownfish/nem tank there for YEARS but always chickened out. Finally, IT HAPPENED.

You could of just used Tri's tank
I was itching for him to break down his tank and for me to take over, until he got annoyed with all my pestering. He's still in it...sorta ...

Lol. Hi, Rik! How've you been? With all that's been going on, have you set up a new tank yet? :)

7 year old clownfish? Ah, so sorry to hear that. I'll def need to get them big enough. With your tank's size, they really will feel like they're in the ocean!

Can you share how and what you are growing as far as foods for them, and more about the process? I'd really like to do this someday, but just don't have the space for this sort of endeavor.

There was a guy named Johnny from back in the days that tried the percula tank idea. He bought like 20 perculas from PTF and added to a 60 gallon cube along with a few rbtas. Eventually the number dwindled down to just a handful. I'm sure there are more efficient ways to keep the school alive so very interested in how this goes.
