BUILDING A DREAM....SPS Dominated Tank build

Are you absolutely dead set on a Queen? I had a Passer and it grew from 2" to 5" in less than a yr.. Got more aggresive than I like also. I gave it away. Not the same, but both holacanthus... Regal angel might be a better candidate for a mid size reef tank..

Hi geaux xman,
Keeping a Queen angel has been a long time dream for me. Yea I am worried about it being aggressive. But it will be the only angel in my reef. Maybe a couple of dwarf angels too. Gonna see how it works out. Thanks a lot for the input

Thank you to each and everyone for following my journey and looking forward to all your company in 2013.

Hope 2013 is an another excellent reef building year for you. :celeb1:

Acros are in and the Borbonius is beautiful. Love the updates.

And there will be some more "tech/equipment" updates coming soon on my lil reef....soon :)
Stay tuned.

Went through the whole thread. One of the most high tech setups i have seen for sure. too bad u didn't choose the name "œhigh tech reefer" instead of reef noob. :D

I love ya minimalistic scaping.

Gota question for u, do u like those red colour led's on ya light system? Is it looking good to the naked eye as same as it look on the photos? and do u know the nm values for those leds in ya lights?

Btw can u tell me where u get those switch box's.

Hi osi,
Thanks so much for the kind words and also taking the time to go through my journey. Your words made my day :D
I always consider myself a noob at reefing because the learning never stops and that's what makes this hobby so exciting.
And yea ur right "tech" is one area of Reefing I really admire and I want to incorporate tech into the display...that's the idea :)
Regarding the lights..I don't think there are any red LEDs on there. And none looks red to the naked eye too. One thing iv noticed with LEDs are the reef looks much better seen in person than in the photographs. It's not easy to get the true to life colour of corals in the photographs and I'm am amateur at it. But I'm learning :D
Corals look all washed out in the photos, need to adjust the WB when I shoot and also need a macro lens. Il send you details.
Posting a pic for reference:

have you used the calcium checker yet? I've given up on mine, it can't come close to being accurate.

Hello Sisterlimonpot,
Yep I did use it few times. Me too it did not give the exact value when I had retested, but the values where just few numbers apart.
I then double checked with my Salifert test kit and the value was comparable and close to what the Hanna tester had given. What I do is :
I use RO water to rinse the vials, use a lint free close to wipe down the vials before loading into the meter. And resting the vial so no air bubbles are there before testing. I think the trick is to empty the whole reagent powder into the vial and doing it consistently.
