Calvin415's ADA 60-P Build

Nice to see that it works.

Yeah, so far it's been great!

Sorry but I never heard of this term before, what is a turf scrubber? It looks cool and helpful...

In short it is a nutrient export like chaeto but on steroids! Seriously, I'm not getting anything other than un-eaten food in my skimmer, not even tea colored skimmate! I have 1/4 of water in my skimmer and haven't cleaned it in a week.

Check out algae scrubber dot net

Nice update on the algae scrubber. So would it replace the function of GFO or do you plan to use other methods of nutrient exports in conjunction w/ the scrubber?

I love seeing your algae scrubber on a smaller aquarium. I used to use one many years ago, and you're making me want to bring it back.

Wow, I never knew that. Explains why your tank is so crystal clear haha

LOL, we'll see how it does long term...

I've read that it acts like a sponge for both nitrates and phosphates so yes, it seems to act like like GFO, but only time will tell. I have a pair of reactors to run carbon/GFO if needed. For now, I'm going to stick with Skimming and the TS.

Go for it, thus far, I'm pretty impressed by the growth, and the lack of algae in the tank. I clean the glass about every 5 or 6 days instead of every 2 or 3.

So here is my latest addition, I'm hoping to get a better pic tonight or tomorrow (once he's opened up and settled in). Black and White Maxima from Micronesia.

Continues to look great.

Do you think your ATS is loud at all?

I want to do one on a fowlr but if I have to hear the water falling not so much since it will be near the tv.

I have read on the ATS thread quite a bit and may do a horizontal even though it is less efficient.

I honestly don't hear it but it's in a sump with the bottom of the screen touching the water below... With the stand doors closed, unless nothing is going on in the room (dead silent), I don't hear anything from the entire system.

Tank is really coming along. I have been considering an ATS for some time and I am curious to see how yours does. Keep it up

Took some pics of the new corals from the last swap, and tank today... Want to get a few more LPS corals, and maybe some primo zoanthids and let everything grow in. :)

Tank looks great. I remember looking through your old build thread on your last tank. It was amazing, shame you had to break it down, but you have to do what you have to do.

I've seen tanks that have ATS, and I want to try it myself.
Do you think I should give it a try.
Could share my tank specs with you and whether or not I should do it.
Seems like it provides really clean water, which I want to be able to keep SPS.

Thanks.

Beautiful tank! Like many others, this is making me consider an ATS. It seems like a great way to export naturally, without dosing (like vodka and bacteria). Anyway, again, beautiful tank! Thanks for sharing. :D

Keep up the pics and updates!

BTW, I'm loving the roll of paper towels in the last pic; it seems like I always have a roll somewhere near the tank. :p

This build/setup is extremely high calibre. I love the execution of this tank. Everything about it looks so sleek and beautiful. Subscribed. :D

I said the exact same thing. Years ago I used one on my 120, but his makes me want to set one up on the 24" cube I'm putting together.

Great looking tank as usual Calvin . The light mounting with wiring in the wall cavity is outstanding.

Question about the ATS and the connection between the plastic fabric and PVC pipe. Is there a slot in the PVC holding the fabric and dribbling water down the fabric or is the PVC a spray bar that disperses water on the fabric?

Best thing about an ATS is that if you want to drop it, it's easy enough to pull, and startup costs can be minimal.

DO IT! LOL. ;)

Very nice!

Thanks!

Thanks! I ran the 1/2" pipe through the table saw to cut a slot in it and then heated/melted the edge of the screen to keep it from falling through. So to answer your question the water falls through. I'll add a link to a video at the end...

Thanks! Yeah I don't know how many times they come in handy, and so many times if gone looking for them and couldn't find them. LOL

Thank you very much! I appreciate the kind words!

Figured it's been a few weeks I'll take some more shots... A few things have happened over the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately I just couldn't get my Cardinals to take to mysis, arctic pods, pellets, flake, or anything other than pods. The results? 2 Pipes + 4 Bangaii's competing for the same food source (even culturing and adding pods manually) just wasn't enough, and one by one they gave in. :( I am once again down to just 1 chromie, but still plan to add a bunch more of them. I also have 3 sexy shrimp that have developed a taste for my plate coral. I've finally got them to leave it alone (I think) but a lot of damage is done. They are now always on my Scoly but doesn't appear to have any damage... Only time will tell if they stay or if they go.

And the damage... From here it looks like it might have two mouths?
