After a long weekend, then CFM, I'm watching the laker game and what do I hear? My screen top going bam and flop flop flop... I look over and and the lineautus is just bouncing around on the top of the bracing. *** so I run over there and I'm looking everywhere for the POS and no where. So I grab a chair and have to lean over my lights, look down into the overflow... and yep he's stuck in the overflow.

Why does this happen right now I tell myself? Can't I just relax? Ok so once I realized that a net wasn't going to work cuz of the durso and return lines it took my about :20 minutes to work up the courage to pull the durso and let him take a ride down the pipes. He's big, so I know this probably wasn't the best of plans but I really couldn't get down in there to get him. So I put a net at the end of both drain outputs, pulled the durso and hoped for the best. After the huge gargel noises I don't see him in my sump... CRAP! Yep his flopping at the bottom of the overflow dangit. I very carefully reached the net in side and picked him up and out.

This is like the 4th or 5th time this idiot has jumped and moved my net, luckily evertime I've been home. I finally took two heavy pieces of acrylic to weigh the net down. Anyone else have this problem? Do you secure the frame/net somehow?

One good thing that came out of this was through all of this I figured out why my drain was so dang loud and noisy... there was a giant turbo snail shell stuck covering about 3/4 of the opening. Between that and drilling the vent hole a little bigger on the cap and its a lot more quiet.

And why does the one fish in my tank that likes to jump was $250? omg

at least you can get one to live. hopefully yours will be ok.
BTW, Esteban has had the same thing happen to him with his scotts and even some smaller wrasses.

He looked dazed and confused but not damaged. I think he'll be ok AGAIN. Last time he fell all the way behind the tank and made it. I only suffocated him this time for a minute or so. For being such a wussy he is a tough son of a gun. Hopefully he is out and about like usual when I go home for lunch.

Can you velcro it to your Eurobrace?

That might work. The heavy acrylic block isn't the best looking.

My alpha Rosy Scales (they both sexed into males, unfortunately) lost his place in the pecking order to his tankmate, due to his three ingenious leaps onto the floor through tiny gaps. Like you, I was home each time and retrieved his dusty, cobweb-coverred body from the tile behind the tank. He hid for several days following each "outing". The first two times he was still king of the wrasses. The third time, however, when he emerged from hiding the other wrasse chased him around the tank at amazing speeds. The have reached an uneasy truce, the the former understudy is now the alpha.

I have seen some folks Velcro the frame with the net over their tank. This is what I intend to do with mine when I build it ;)

happened in my AP12. one of my clowns kept jumping into the back chamber to live. no matter how many times I put him back in the display side, he would always find hsi way back there.

I went home for lunch and I'm happy to report that Dive Bomb is alive and well like nothing happened. Dummy :debi:

Which one is it?
I have no top but fortunately I have only one jumper Solon wrasse but I am obsess wrasse collector so maybe I should make a net.

Thanks for the warning Cody !

The super male lineatus fairy wrasse.

Basically the wrasse harem I have are a little skittish... They will all dart at the same time, usually when they get frisky when they think they are about to get fed. They all go sideways ... He goes straight up sometimes when the others go side to side. He tends to cruise the top of the water column while the others are sort of all over.

I envy you since I never have luck with lineatus maybe because of my large margin :( so it will be on the block when my harem of rhomboid comes in from my lfs hopefully its not all supermale.lol ( its a big possibility since its a special order)

Any suggestion on what screen should I use?

I use the 1/4" screen from BRS. Be careful because they also sell the 1/2" screen as well which the wrasses could probably jump right through

Sounds like you need a lid for your overflow box. I think I paid $10 for my replacement lid, best money I could have spent!

You know I used to have one on my old tank. Yep adding that on the list. Thanks! Except that this time he would have surely hit the floor had it been covered up. But there was some algae in there which I don't like.

Velcro, check. Acrylic cover for overflow, check.
