cFloor's 190g

I pulled out my coarse sand a couple weeks back and I've slowly been replacing it with the new, finer stuff. I'm using PVC to get it to some of the tough to reach spots. I accidentally broke my small Pink Lemonade in half while doing this. You can see the small cluster of branches just to the left of the PVC in the pic. That is now broken off. Oh well

As Hard as I try to be extra careful when i work in the tank, I'm like a bull in a china shop in there. I always seem to accidentally frag something:P

Me too! Every single time I try to move something around or make a change in the tank, I break a coral.
Same here. I am always breaking things. I broke a colony in half the other day.
Oh no! Bummer. I just gotta keep my hands out of my tank, so hard to do.
Ouch. I hate it when established colonies are disturbed/broken.
Me too my friend, this time it was one of my smaller frags and I broke off the new growth. Oh well
How's the new sand going mate? Enjoying it more than the coarse??
I love it! I'm still adding more but I'm almost there. I'm mixing two finer sands together and despite all of the flow in the tank it's staying put. I bought a bunch more snails and a couple sand sifting starfish to help keep it clean because I can't easily vacuum it.

Ime, the sifting stars don't live well. I've found sifting fish to be much more durable and good workers. You just gotta make sure no corals on the sand as they will bury them. Some species are worse than others.

Man, that is a beauty of a Tort!

Thanks Myka, what goby species do you prefer for sifting sand? I had one in my last tank that would swim up a couple inches when sifting and it created a sand storm every time.

You could always get a sifting snail. I do not have much experience with them but my lfs keeps them in their display and their sand is perfectly white. I have had a watchmen goby and he did a good job keeping my sand clean until my dbag damsel killed him

oh and I just got my first sps (poccilipora) due to your thread, and a week later I crave more sticks!

Yes, I have a lot of nassarius snails and a couple conches that so far are keeping it clean.

Congrats on getting your first sps coral! I should warn you that this can be a slippery slope and it could start taking over your life and bank account :lmao:

Couple changes going on today and tomorrow with the tank. Today, I got this bad boy

I just got it installed and boy does it look nice! Very pleased with it.

Tomorrow I am selling some colonies, 2 from my display and a few from my frag tank. It's time to make room for some new stuff that I've had my eye on. One piece in particular I'm very excited about, just hope it all makes it through my QT process. I'll try and get some pics up soon.

I tried the pipe thing with sand and smashed more tips than ever lol, i was cursing loudly that day and ended up throwing the pipe at the kitchen bench with the other hand in the water still......:deadhorse1:
Even with the stupid acro smasher in the shot it's still a drool worthy display of acro yummy, you should be really proud at what you've achieved mate - i'd swap tanks with you any day and there's bugger all guys i'd say that to Conor. ;)

Get an acro and stop messing about Gavin. Pocil would grow in a toilet (where it belongs) so it's not going to show you if your acro ready mate.

Have a bloody go Gavin !

Woot! What do you think of the initial combination of bulbs you got?

Congrats on the pickup! My corals LOVE my ati t5 lighting. That and my calcium reactor are the 2 best things I ever did for my tank. Hands down

It seems everyone who has tried the PVC trick ends up breaking their corals, haha. Another lesson learned. And thanks so much for that very kind compliment! Coming from an acro whisperer such as yourself, really means a lot to me!

Well, I've now had them up for 24 hours. It's definitely whiter than my last combo, but it's also much brighter which I like. I'm going to give it some time and see how my corals respond. It think it looks good though.

Oh yeah... Can't wait to see the tank with that bad boy running!
I'm really happy with it! I'll get some pics up soon.

Yes, I loved my last one, so I new I was getting a quality product. I now have better spread with less bulbs to change. My last one was a 36" 10 bulb with 2 24" fixtures on either side. So I went from 14 bulbs to 8, which is nice.

Here's my haul for today. I traded a few colonies for this. It doesn't look like much and a lot of the frags are browned out, but I feel there's a ton of potential in there. They will spend about a month or so in my acro QT. There's also a nice golden torch in there but I didn't want to upset biggles, so it's not in the pic

These corals were just in my car for about 2 hours and dipped in Bayer so they're all pretty stressed.

The new light looks sexy, ATI don't support aus which is why i'm dropping their T5 tubes and swapping everything over to Giesemann bulbs i can grab from the LFS without any risk of breakage :) I still think the ATI blue plus bulb is the overall best T5 bulb ever made - the radium of the T5 world lol..........

That is a huge haul of goodies, i think you did great on the trade buddy. Thanks for not putting any rubbish corals in the shot mate..........
