The more I see these getting more popular, the more I think "why doesn't a large US company offer something like it, or just resell them, instead of having all these premium expensive fixtures". I'm talking like Marineland or JBJ size companies. The newest JBJ $500 fixtures aren't even as good as these. It's nice that Reefbreeders resells them, but they are a small business with a good idea, and wouldn't be able to process the same volume. Not all pumps available are Vortechs, so why should all led lights be $500+ premium. If an average person can build there own light, surely engineers can make a good affordable one without cannibalizing sales of higher models.
There are budget reefers out there that really benefit from the cost of these lights, and the performance and quality is there. Not everyone wants to spend $500+ for a 12" fixture that can be obsolete in a year. That's double the price of my used 125 gallon tank. When you tell non reefers that you're thinking of multiple $500 lights, they think you're insane.
