Chinese LED Lights

Question, I'm looking to change some LEDs out in my fixture. I'm looking at 12 neutral white, 4 warm white, 4 violet, 4 UV, 2 green and 2 red per fixture. Anyone know a good place to get these from?
Corey

Get them from Evergrow or Ebay. You'll have to desolder and pry them off the stars they come on though from ebay, which can be tricky.

Looking at ordering IT2060s for my 125 pred. reef. Can get them at $330 each w/ free shipping. I was thinking of doing the custom color layout on the LEDs, but im not sure what selection Evergrow has for LEDs, or what spread an IT2060 has. IE would I need 2 or 3?

Where are you all getting in on group buys? If I can participate, please PM me.

Thanks.

You're in Central Ohio and there's a local club there.

If you aren't already a member, join and start your own group buy. I started the one in my club and I ended up with 10 members and we bought 24 lights. Got D120's for $100 and IT2080's for $310 plus shipping, which was about $30a unit. Of course I pushed the GB idea because I saved the most money buying 2 D120s, 1 IT2040 and 2 IT2080s. And they are all working great so far.

Thanks for posting the D120 pics fellas. If I wasn't impatient I would have ordered a custom layout since the default LED configuration looks purple in the pics. I ordered 3 D120's from RB Tuesday (via Paypal) but still did not receive any tracking info, is this normal?

Well I got mine from Evergrow yesterday d120 xmas specials! They are up, running and look pretty good... here are a couple of pics... the pics are not as bright as reality though they are only tuned to 40%

Very cool tank man I love your aquascape ... that thing will look soooo awesome when its mature and full of more coral ...

I have 2 of the it2040's (with 90 degree optics) and am wondering how high I should mount them above a 48x24x24 tank?

I think the proper answer is; whatever works for you.

There is no right or wrong here. You want to consider that higher will allow the light to spread more and cover more of the bottom of the tank. If coverage isn't an issue, then the lower they are, the higher the PAR values will be deeper in the tank. My IT2040 is about 5-6" off the water on a 75g hex tank (24" deep) and at 100% power I get a PAR of between 300-350 at 21" underwater (the sandy bottom). If you need the PAR and therefore need to hang the lights low, but the light doesn't cover the bottom of the tank well enough, you can remove some of the lenses from the part of the light that should be lighting up that part of the tank. I took the lenses off any led that isn't blue or white and off 2 rows of leds at either end in order to get better spread over the bottom of my 55g QT. It helps, but it isn't a huge difference and the light at the edges is a bit dimmer.

Hope that helps a little?

The more I see these getting more popular, the more I think "why doesn't a large US company offer something like it, or just resell them, instead of having all these premium expensive fixtures". I'm talking like Marineland or JBJ size companies. The newest JBJ $500 fixtures aren't even as good as these. It's nice that Reefbreeders resells them, but they are a small business with a good idea, and wouldn't be able to process the same volume. Not all pumps available are Vortechs, so why should all led lights be $500+ premium. If an average person can build there own light, surely engineers can make a good affordable one without cannibalizing sales of higher models.

There are budget reefers out there that really benefit from the cost of these lights, and the performance and quality is there. Not everyone wants to spend $500+ for a 12" fixture that can be obsolete in a year. That's double the price of my used 125 gallon tank. When you tell non reefers that you're thinking of multiple $500 lights, they think you're insane.

My lights were being sent to the wrong address cause I moved and told reefbreeders my new address but they forgot to update before they shipped it ... Logan called me and was super nice and cool about it ...

It stinks cause now I prob won't get then for another week easily.... I can't wait any longer!!!!

I agree. As I told a friend, if this trend in better and cheaper leds continues, the diy end of the led business could really take a hit. I took the EcoTech Radion off my 24g frag tank and put an EG D120. The Radion may end up over my refugium or DSB. We have a couple of LFS selling lights close to these and they get $300 ea if you making a big buy or $350 if you are just buying a light. Yikes!

One it2080 would be beautiful but if you need to be cheap two d120s will be plenty but for a a little more I'd do one it2080

I have a 55 gal 48" long. What would be the best size/ number of the evergrow lights for this

Travis is absolutely right. I have a 55g QT and one D120 isn't enough and 2 is more than enough, but if you can spend the extra, get an IT2080. I have two IT2080s over my 180g DT and I couldn't be happier.

1. you'll only have 1 power cord instead of 4 with 2 D120s
2. you have moonlights
3. you have a built in timer
4. you can ramp up and down either/both channels independantly every 30 minutes
5. if it's not in a canopy, it just plain looks cooler

Got my 32" controllable fixture from Reefbreeders yesterday (IT2080, standard layout, 90 degree optics). I know its overkill for my 40 breeder but the price difference was not much more than the smaller fixture and if I ever upgrade to a bigger tank I don't have to replace my lights. Other than the remote being broken, everything seems to be working great. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

AWESOME!!!!!!!! I'm waiting on my 2080. I also have a 40 breeder, so now I'm even more excited about it! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow! Your rock layout is similar to mine too.
About how high do you have the light? Does it blind you when you stand by it?
Looks Great!!
