Dennis once again nice build as always. Quick question what size pipe did you use on your L1 Vectra for your return i have the M1 and have the return pipe at 1"1/2 and can only turn it up to about 40% should i change pipe out for a smaller return pipe or do you think that it doesn't matter. More Pics please :)

The L1 has a 1" output so that's what I used.
But I do have some restriction with three 90 degree elbows and a couple 1" barb fittings because I have a little bit of silicone tubing mixed in with the hard pvc.
My drain is 1.5"
 
Nitrates are down to 1ppm this morning.
I think it's time to add more fish! :D

Purple Tang may be next on the list.
 
yep- Purple Tangs, and many other tangs work best if added last to an established tank - but I am sure Dennis new that as a guy who has over 8K posts and has been in the Reef Central community since 2008.

haha yeah but i've never had a tang go after other fish... just other tangs.
Are you saying the purples are aggressive towards all other fish?
 
I have a purple, powder blue, vlamingii, and yellow eye kole tang the purple is tame compared to the powder blue who is boss in my tank. Truthfully purple is pretty chill but he was added last.

The powder brown was pretty ticked off when I added the kole today.
Chased him all over the tank for a bit.
They seem to be getting along a little better now.
But now that those two guys are in the tank, i feel like I need some anthias or other smaller fish to balance it out.
Will put off another tang for awhile.
 
Hey Dennis - quick question about the phyto. Do you add in manually, dose it with a doser, etc? Is it mixed in any manner?
 
Dennis, I have a purple tang in my tank and 5 other tangs. They get along fairly well, he is not the bully of my tank, but mostly because my blue tang is larger. I adopted the purple from a friend who said it was sort of a bully. But I think a lot of it depends on the fish itself.
