DanW's 187 SPS Dominated Reef Journal

Dan, those levels look great. I really need to work on getting my PO4 and NO3 down some more. It's tough with the way I feed though. I feel bad cuz all the fish are begging like hungry puppies and I just can't deny them :)

Thanks Dave. Yeah, I got a piece of the Cyphastrea decadia when you get out this way (and anything else you like). CFM is March 21, info here.

Thanks very much for the very generous offer Dan, I appreciate it!~ If you ever make it out my way same goes for you my friend, anything you like ok!

Not sure if I'll be able to make CFM although I'd sure like to. I'm scheduled to work that weekend but you never know, lol!

Last but not least I was curious what piece this is pictured above that Kenney took a picture of for you? It looks a bit similar to something I just got.

Thanks!~

No problem man...That is the Ice Fire Enchinata. Although not as colorful as the one pictured here yet (hopefully). My piece is in a little lower light so the interior is yellowish, not white.

Ah... yes, I just got a piece of the ORA Blue Iris that a few have said resembles the Ice Fire Echinata. Personally the jury's still out as far as my piece although I like it I just don't quite see the similarities just yet.a

I like the Ice Fire mucho better for sure!

I am in line for the first frag that Dan makes :D

Don't worry Kenney, I won't steal your thunder, lol!~

However, if there's a waiting list I'd like to be put on it!!! :spin1:

Dave, as for color the ORA Blue Iris might look similar to the ice fire. As far as growth pattern, there no comparison. Echinata have very tin branches, if i were to compare the size to something, the thickness is similar to a toothpick.

Nah, Dave. I was just messin' around. The colony looks nice as is so I would hate for Dan to chop it up. Too bad I lost mine but I am sure I'll be able to track down another piece somewhere, somehow :)

I like the Borb too Austin but he has started to show a little more aggression over the last few months :(
Hmmm, interesting, how long have you had it? Do you keep only a single borb? Is it outright (bad; nipping, biting) aggression or territorial (chasing) disputes?

Austin, he was added in September 2008 and was pretty small (<1.5" IIRC). His aggression is mostly directed towards new additions, chasing them whenever (wherever) he sees them and for some reason towards the flame wrasses when they get close. He attempts to (what looks to me like) nip at them. It's not constant aggression but enough to have the thought of removing him cross my mind once or twice (but I really like his coloring). I recently added a pair of rhomboids that he really didn't like.
