DanW's 187 SPS Dominated Reef Journal

Wow Kenny, I can't believe how your picts look so much more to the real colors that mine. Thanks for coming over and bringing the kids. Your little girl is so cute and such a transformation in her from being shy in the beginning to crying at the end because she didn't want to leave. Really nice to see. Yeah, that tripod is pretty ghetto but it's the person behind the camera that really makes the difference

Great shots Kenny :) Things are looking good Dan. Those chalices are nioce
Thanks Mark. I think I'm going to do a few more weekly water changes then go back to the bi-weekly schedule. Hopefully things stay steady.

Dave it's the Tyree Cyphastrea decadia and I've had it for a very long time. A slow grower for me, are you planning to come back to So. Cali anytime soon? CFM perhaps?

I'm not sure when I'll be back Dan, but next time I plan on making sure you've got some time to meet up!

What, when and where is CFM???

Dan, just imagine what we could have done if you had a REAL tripod :lol2: Yeah, I was glad our kids got along. I think that cookie did the trick. All she needed was some sugar in her tummy :)

Dave, I use a Canon Rebel XT. The fish pix were shot with a 50/1.8 and the corals were shot with the 100mm macro/Kenko 20mm extension.

Thanks Austin and Brian. It's easy when there are good subjects to shoot with and fish that like to pose :)

The biggest colony of PL with the craziest PE I have ever seen in person :eek2:

I am lucky enough to have a piece of Dan's PL, but looking at Pooks pictures I see how much the color has changed on mine compared to the mother colony. I must have either too much light or not enough nutrients.

When I first got it.

And now. It looks a little more yellow in person, but still a lot different than the mother

Wow Dan, your corals look amazing!~

Kenney what camera/lens were you using for these pics? Gosh I need to learn to take better pics... :(

Thanks Dave. Yeah, I got a piece of the Cyphastrea decadia when you get out this way (and anything else you like). CFM is March 21, info here.

Yes, a little embassasing when there's an old nail holding one of the pieces of the tripod together huh? Good subjects...did you go to someone else's house after mine?:lmao:

Yup Ryan same colony you got the frag from, funny how they morph from tank to tank. Shoot its even changed in my tank, got a little more greenish tinge to it now. Not sure what color I like better though.

Dang your corals are looking very nice, I hope mines turn out to be as nice as yours. Great looking fish too. Keep up the good work Dan :)

Thanks Michael, I have no doubt that they will. You've gotten through your rough patch so hopefully it's clear sailing at least for a while.

I tested my parameters last night and they were spot my targets (Mg is a little high but I'm not dosing all coming from TMP):

CA 440 (Salifert)
ALK 9 dkh (API)
MG 1500 (Elos)
PO4 0.04 (Hanna)
NO3 < 1 (Elos)
Salinity 35 ppt

I'll test and repost later this week to see how much is depleted since both the CA and Kalk reactors are offline.
