Very sharp, Dan

Vey nice Dan. Flash?
Thanks guys but I think it is still little blury. The lens I used is slow but I upped the ISO and I did use the flash. I need to get one of those fancy 50mm that Kenny suggested (1.4 or 1.8). Trying to talk myself into the 1.4 but the additional $$ makes me hesitate (well actually explaining it to my wife makes me hesitate :o).

Okinawa...Hawaii...military?

Yup! My Dad was the military guy, I was just the brat, lol!~

Was Okinawa stationed at Kadena AFB from Feb. 14, 1983 - Apr. 1985 and then Hickam AFB from Apr. 1985 - Apr. 1988. After Dad retired in 88' I stayed in HI with some buddies till Nov. of 89! Pretty cool to have had those opportunities!

It was living in Okinawa and Hawaii where I was permanently afflicted with reef fever, lol!~

I've visited Okinawa once, during the summer. Very beautiful place but the humidity was tough. Funny with HI, I don't think I could have lived there as a teen/young adult, now I'd jump at the chance!

Nice Dan, how long have you had him?
Thanks Brian, he (she...how to tell the difference?) was added in mid-November 2009. This is my second, the first died when I introduced a new fish that was diseased, prompting me to set-up a QT.

Funny you mention the humidity about Okinawa, the day we stepped off the plane I was wearing sunglasses and the moment I stepped out of the plane my sunglasses immediately fogged up, lol! Did a LOT of snorkeling there and saw some amazing corals/reefs too!

Hawaii was awesome, I finished my last year of high school there and did a couple years of community college. Oh... and spent a LOT of time at the beach boogie boarding and some snorkeling/diving too!!!

What HS did you attend in HI? Where did you live? We were on the windward side (Kaneohe) but I have relatives everywhere. Planning to go back later this year and we can't wait.

Some day down the road, I might just bug/beg for a frag back. Talk about a touchy coral, mine bleached out I think after I added the T5's and never recovered. It has pulled through a lot over the years but just can't seem to deal with this one. Finally lost the last bit of it earlier this week :(

No problem. When I get brave again I'll frag it. The only time I fragged it, I cut it into 4 pieces, two died, one made it to someone else and I kept the remaining piece. Probably was the size of a old silver dollar coin at the time. It's a little bigger now, I'll shoot for RAP.

I graduated HS at Radford HS in 86' and lived on Hickam till my family left HI in early-mid 88. After that I shared a house with some friends on the side of Diamond Head... 3417 E. Mc Corriston St. Ah... the good ol' days, lol!

It was a six bedroom house that had views of the ocean and I could throw a rock a Diamond Head from my back yard! You've seen the movie Animal House no doubt? Well, this was our little modern day (at the time) version of that, lol! There were six of us that lived there and then seven eventually when an old friend of mine from Okinawa showed up at my work one day. He needed a place to live and we were real good friends so he moved in with the "gang".

I was very familiar with all the island of Oahu and new all the local spots to go surf/boogie board. We used to frequent Sandy's Beech, Pipeline, Backdoors, Waimea Bay, etc, etc.... It was a GREAT time back then! I used to work at a place called Nick's Fishmarket if you're familiar? It of course is no longer there but I helped open our then sister restaurant The Black Orchid as well.

Anyway you've got me strolling down memory lane now and I wish I could go back.:sad2: I still have some good friends there!

Sounds like a fun time, I'll bet there are great stories to be told over a few cold ones. As long as none of them involve any Waikiki mahus I'm all ears.

I think it'd be nice to hook up one of these days and exchange stories, reefing and other wise! And you can rest easy the only Mahu stories I have are funny ones!!!
