DanW's 187 SPS Dominated Reef Journal

Hey Dave, it was nice to finally see your tank today. Your tank is amazing with all those LE corals.

Thank you so much for that filefish! He's happily picking away at aiptasia already in a 5g tank I placed him in (with heater and filter of course). Im scared to put him in my tank but I think the cleaning station idea should work. Did he start picking at your sps polyps only after the aiptasia was all gone? How long did it take for him to clear your entire tank of aiptasia? Thanks again.

Dan, we'll give it another go in a bit ;)
Yeah Kenny, you know I'll try again (poor unsuspecting fish). BTW I saw a Bandito this weekend. She was pretty big 5" inches maybe but what a beautiful fish :inlove: Believe me the thought crossed my mind :spin2:

Dave? No he was the guy that you came with :lmao: Thanks for stopping by...amazing tank? nah just trying not to kill the inhabitants. Not sure when the filefish started nipping but I would guess it was 7-10 days afterwards that I noticed several of my pieces had lost PE. Funny not all of them though. I don't think he cared for millis and left the dendros alone. I didn't have many aptasias left in the tank (at least that I could see) but what was left was gone in about a week. He was happily muchning on everything I fed so I know that he was getting plenty to eat. Your cleaning station idea sounds cool...good luck with him...he's ugly but in a kinda cool way.

5" is pretty big if it was collected at that size. It would be a different story if it was in someone's tank for a long time tho. Was it eating, at least?

Collected that size and I did not ask to see if it would eat. I knew better and to get one that large and to tempt myself. Altough the price it was being offered at really made me hesitate.

Sorry about that Dan :lolspin: I just finished writting him and somehow I mixed up the names. I need to stop reefing so late at night :hammer:. The cleaning station is working great. I think you need a frag of my Aussi Sunrise, I don't think I've ever seen an Orange Milli with red polyps. Since its 'wild' I'm praying it will keep its color :jester:

:lmao: just busting your chops. Hope the milli keeps it color, its pretty unique for sure.

Dan, my husband and I want to thank you for taking time this evening to show us your beautiful tank!!! My husband was very impressed and that's hard to do as he's not really into the hobby. It was also great meeting you in person and putting a face with the name! I can't wait until my tank is back in line and I can use my shopping list ;) Thanks again for the hospitality! Sara & Jon

I wholeheartedly agree that Dan has an awesome tank. He's just way too modest to admit it. Now if only I can get my corals to grow like his :o

I agree Kenny, it is a simply AWESOME tank! I'm just in awe to the size of the Pink Lemonade!!! Also, thanks for recommending that we check out his tank!

Sara & Jon, thanks for taking time out of your vacation (during rush hour no less) and stopping by yesterday to check out my tank. I consider it an honor that you did so. It's always fun to share with people that can really appreciate it. Not sure how beautiful or awesome it is, just glad that you didn't laugh out loud :o. Both you guys and Kenny are way too kind (checks for the public complements are in the mail :lmao:). Sara whenever your ready pick what you want from the list and Santa will send you a box

Hi Dan! I was wondering, which is your favorite purple Acropora in your tank? Thanks
Tough call Ramzy but since I can't get my Purple Monster to really color up, I'd say the GARF Bonsai followed by the Bali-Tri. (Assuming you mean a deep purple color.) If you're going for a lighter purple, Ultimate's Purple Monster is hard to beat and maybe my favorite piece at the moment.

Hey Dan!
Just wanted to say thanks for showing us your beautiful tank last week! Whatever you went through before is really a thing of the past now! Your tank bounced back beautifully and everything looks healthy and colorful!! How are all your fishy's doing btw??

Oh and THANK YOU sooo much for that chalice!! Really sweet of you Dan!! Thanks again! I love it! It's doing awesome in my nano but once my bigger tank is fully cycled and safe to add corals,it'll be relocated :)

Thanks for the kind words Kat. As far as the fishes...:sad1: Hopefully the chalice will look good in your new tank. You have a good eye for corals so I'm looking forward to seeing your new tank progress.
