Deeznutz Hd 120 Shallow rimless (Pics)

Lol you're so modest ha ha maybe one day I'll show you however compared to yours it pales in every aspect. I can't wait to see your tank filled already. I wish you lived closer I would love to see it. Albeit your photos are amazing nothing ever does it justice like standing in front of it

Geez man, I'm exhausted just from looking at your thread! I don't know where you find the energy, I have one small kid and I'm whipped at the best of times. Going to be epic once you get it up and running, envious of the fish room. :)

Ok man, lets settle this once and for all. My pinks, reds and greens are better. But your purples and blues are unheard of lol. You could always flyin in for a week to baby sit the tank while I'm on vacation :)
I can't wait to get water into it as well. It looks good now and it's dry hahaha.

Dude, it's not work when youre having fun! But I know how you feel. I fell asleep on the couch while posting the pics that night lol.
The fish room is going to be awesome if things go to plan. I'm looking for an easy and managable setup where I can spend more time fragging and mounting corals then doing the water changes and attending to my husbandry.

I'm trying to deisgn a method or a solution as to how I'm going to vacuum my sand bed without lugging around 5 gallon buickets of water on the main floor.
I want set up a design where I can siphon the sand from upstairs and have it drain to the basmsent. Got any ideas?

As for the system itself, I'm sure I could get the system wet and runing in one weekend by just thowing things together quickly. But I know I'll never get around to doing things right. The way I've planned it out anyways. It'll just get pushed off and never get done. So I've decided not to rush and just take it one step at a time.

BTW, I might get you over to do some pics one day once its up and running if you don't mind. I love your style and I wouldn't mind picking up a few tricks along the way

Love the fishroom as well ..I am still trying to convince the wife I can put a hole in the walls and it would be ok lol

It would be nice to have a frag setup that is both easy to work in and around. I hate having a frag rack in my display, and having a second separate tank that isn't plumbed into the main system is too much work.

In terms of vacuuming, couldn't you just run a hose through the floor along side your plumbing? If it was gravity fed, would be quite the siphon though!

After the month of June things get significantly less busy for me, and once the fall has come and gone I should have a master's degree and way more free time! There are several people in the Toronto area that I need to visit and see their system, I can add you to the list - I'd like to see this setup in person, one day I hope that I will have a fish room of my own, for now I will live vicariously through those that do!

I have read through this thread and I must say I'm impressed with the tank build. I love shallow tanks. Good luck

I hear yeah about the frag rack. Eye sore for sure.
So you will be getting your masters, for what if you don't mind me asking? PLease add me to the list of your tank tours :)

The idea of the siphoning drain is what I've been planing. The over flow box contains 4 holes. 3 of which will be used for the bean animal drain. The last will be the return.
If you are familiar with the bean animal design, I'll be using the emergency drain as the siphon drain. I'm planning to adding a t-wye fitting to the end of the drain with a valve. With the drain closed, it will direct emergency drain water into the sump and open direct it into a drain or a reservoir so I can monitor how much water I'm draining and to catch the solids and sand etc.

I'm hoping this will be a painless way of vacuuming my sand bed, which hardly ever happens in my tank. Unfortunately.

Thanks, and as you may or may not know. It's easier to beg for forgiveness then to ask for permission :)

The secret is lugols iodine and ATI actinic bulbs

Thanks for sharing those secrets :), those pics are hawt!

Thank you for following. This is my first shallow tank besides my frag tank which is 14 tall. I tell yah, biggest reason for me to go with a 18" tall tank is because I hate getting my arms wet pass the elbow. I guess its some kind of OCD lol.
Please continue to follow as things are starting to get good :)

I used up all my forgiveness already lol

You could always tell here that the tank will be so much quieter if the sump was in the basement. PLus the odds of a flood and ruining the floors are significantly reduced with a basement sump :) PLus you won't have to make a mess around the fish tank every time you do a water change.
Let me know how that goes over :)

Get some water I it already would ya!

Man, I'm trying! I was planning a big day today, but I had a few people over last night. The Captain showed up and all my plans today went down the drain. lol
But not next week, but the one following, I have the week off.

I plan on getting a lot done at that time.

I'll keep you guys posted :)
