DIY LEDs with Radion Pro G2 pucks?

They will send me a quote tomorrow. She said she will also send me a sample connector so I could try it out before they process the order

Ya - I was looking at the wrong ones I think. The other I found actually looks like a very good option. Similar plug but with pins that you can pull out (like a PC fan plug). digikey doesn't offer a 16 pin version though.

That's what they send me (pictures)

(Wrong number of pins but just for the model)

I just looked at the data sheet seems like they only go up to 13, I guess I'll hear back her tomorrow when she talks with her supplier

Thanks! didn't notice that tapatalk didn't inject those correctly, I've attached the harness diagram, any feedback would be helpful :)

That's because you don't have 50 post and can't see the selling and trading forms. I have a full set for sale

Same here been seeing really good results. I am actually building 5 more fixtures right now for my main display. I am working with a wire harness supplier from amazon to create wire harnesses for me. If anyone is interested I could order some extras.

The lady that is working with me recommends a different connector - ZHR 1.5mm.

I may be interested in picking up some. I am looking to setup 6 pucks.

They are sending me a sample harness tomorrow hopefully it arrive next week or so...

Here are some pictures:

I have 5 each of GEN1 Puck with reflector and lense covers for sale too. I original have 6 each but accident damage one so only 5 left. I will sale all 5 for $150 shipped.

Fixed the pictures for you, harness looks sweet! If I didn't already buy all the connectors and pins I'd be in for one.

Thanks! I too ordered bunch of connectors and pins, after wasting like 40 pins and 3 connectors trying to get them connected I kind of gave up, if you have any tips for crimping those pins I would love to hear about them.

I tried using pliers and those wire crimpers but without much luck, every time I mess up the pin a little, and it fit and usually break off pretty quickly afterwards. I tried used 22 AWG and 24 AWG.

So I've tried skimming the forum but all this technical stuff has me dizzy. Can I wire the Gen2 puks directly to a meanwell 60-48D with manually dimming? If so, how many puks could be connected to each driver/how many drivers to each puk (if you can't drive an entire puk with 1 driver)? I have a few meanwells laying around

I'm not too familiar with these, but it looks like you'd need one for each color running two pucks in series. (Meaning: DC+ goes to + of puck 1, - of puck 1 goes to + of puck 2, - of puck 2 goes to DC- : for each individual color).

I'm guessing current is adjustable? Or that's what the 0-10V is doing (actually changing current output)? Either way, you'd need to be careful not to over-drive any individual color based on the LED max current ratings. @1.3A, the wrong output signal from a controller or turn up your dimmer knob too high, and you could potentially blow a color.. greens and reds being most likely. (especially the violets if you have a puck with these).

The output current on the 60-48D is adjustable based off the 0-10V DC input that goes into the controller. By using a pot on my current setup, I dim down the 10V going into the driver which in turn either ramps up or ramps down the visual intensity if the LEDs. From the sounds of it I should be able to do the "usual" DIY led thing and connect it up. I might be able to, if I'm looking at minimizing the number of drivers I use, connect multiple colors together as long as the max V and max A don't overdrive the LEDs and I stay under the 12-15 led max.

So with the puks themselves, are all of the colors already on their own string? I.e, whites are tied to one wire, blues on another, reds, etc.?

Yep, sounds like you have a plan, but yes, each color is on its own string. White, Royal Blue, Blue, Green, Red, etc. There are only 4 total green and 4 total red, so that'd be the safest to combine... but obviously you can do the math to see if any other strings are able to be combined, and still acceptable to your overal control you want to have.

Can you do the math to see if white with red with green works? and then blues together? G2s use white and royal blue cree XTEs, so there's a chance that those cominations may work out since they run at a lower voltage, but I don't have time right now to re-look everything up. Also - post which pucks you are using since the LED selections are slightly different from version to version. Someone else wanting to use similar drivers with different pucks may need to verify the calculations work on thier version pucks.

Looking to buy the Gen2 puks. 4 total puks which should be plenty for my 75 gallon right? I've only ever used the DIY LEDs plus T-5 for supplemental lighting. Never really even seen the radions in person. Lol. I will try to do the math later but can't because I'm trapped at work....
