DIY LEDs with Radion Pro G2 pucks?

You can use both HLG and CLG drivers as a switching power supply but they cost more and will not be running in their most efficient mode 80% of the time (not a huge deal but may make them run warmer). Depending on how many watts you need their may be switching supplies out there that are as small as the HLG without the extra cost of the driver portion that the HLG has in it. Not sure why you would need the LDD's if you are already using the HLG as it is dimmable and a constant current source to begin with. Krazie :jester:

i want to run the my leds on different channels with different MA draw.

Adding the extra leds to a G2 cluster??

Adding the extra leds to a G2 cluster??

Anyone know if it would be possible to install the extra LEDs that the G2 Pro has to a standard G2 cluster. I've been looking to get G2 Pro clusters but I can't find them, or have been scammed along the way. I found some leds that seem to be the center yellow one, and a few others thay look like the outer "UV" ones. As the spaces are there on the puck and just filled with a jumper, could I possibly solder in the other missing 10 leds and have a set of Pros???

there is a post in this thread a few pages back about doing exactly what you're asking. i am not sure how successful they were.

You won't be able to do it with a solding iron but if you have a toaster oven you can do it. The guy that did it in this thread was adding the two LEDs to make a G3 into a G3 Pro and he had to do it a couple of times to get it to work. It can be done but it is not for the novice to try. Something tells me if I convert our toaster oven into a reflow oven I'm going to be in a bit of trouble with the missus

Depends on the toaster, the older the better, on/off relay and something to control it, a fan that won't melt is nice also...........

The old cheaper ones can be controlled at the plug, just set the dial on the oven to the high temp point of your cycle and let your arduino or what ever switch it on and off according to a temp probe. Not ideal but would get the job done easy enough with low temp solder paste.

Just don't tell the misses and air the thing out good after wards, no one wan'ts to have lead infused pizza, :lolspin:

Where are you guys sourcing these leds? And once the jumper is replaced w the correct led, does the main board automatically recognize the different configuration and run the light as such, as I've been told?

Steves LEDs might be able to accomodate now for the violets, but theirs are 60 degree built in optic so may not work if you are using the radion lenses, but I believe they are the same chip otherwise, check with them first. not sure they'd have the right amber though, I think all they stock is Luxeon amber.

Otherwise I'd look at cutter electronics, they also carry the semi violets and the amber (cree I think if i remember right)

I've been told steves will do the soldering for you for a very reasonable fee, not sure if they would also source the LEDs for you though.

Hi all, been a while since I posted. Been using the diy fixture and I've been seeing great results.

I am trying to do some research (without buying a G3 fixture) I want to find out what are the presets on the device in terms on percentage per channel. Would love if someone here who has radion G3 will share with the group.

Currently working on building up a nice web interface and I need some data

I was hoping someone would dig into these numbers. They all look good but your Reef Creation is missing a number.:fun2: Krazie :jester:

I'm trying to get another order of harnesses from the company that made mine in the first place. The only issue is that they require a minimum order of 100 units.

If anyone is interested in ordering some please let me know. If I get a total of 30 harness I'll place the order. And will try to sell the rest over time to cover expenses.

What's the price tag on one? I have 2 pairs of g2 clusters I was gonna sell but if no one buys them, I may find a place to put em on my tank :)

1-5 harnesses: 10 dollar each
6-10: 9 dollars each
10-20: 8 dollars each
20+ : 7 dollars each

So I have 2 pairs of Gen 2 and I want to add some LEDs to them and make it into a fixture. I've gotten lost into this thread. What all do I need? I want this that can fit into the fixture like the actual radions. Please help!
