EcoTech Radion vs Aquaillumination Sol

Just found the guys profile, Managing director of Orphek USA, how can that be an unbiased oppinion or review? Imagine if Ecotech tried to review Orphek!! Well Ecotech would not for starters as they dont go product bashing they sell themselves on their good name.

Bit small upload but look at the profile header by the photo

his actions are deplorable. I can't believe the way he snubs his nose at other blogs and forums. I hope someone comes out with some official data to refute his unfounded and biased claims.

I got pretty involved in this argument and I can personally tell you that Orphek was not involved here. Maddux own buyorpheklights.com which is a distributor for Orphek. After bringing it to their attention, they not only had him remove the false accusations against Sanjay, ************, Mr. Saltwater Tank and my blog, but they also terminated his contract. As of now his site buyorpheklights.com is down. They may have been a little slow to find this wacko, but they did get on it quickly when it was brought to them.

Then Orphek need to make a public statement 100% removing themselves from any connection.

I want to address an accusation made by the "CA Blog Staff." Advanced Aquarist was not paid by Ecotech to write about the Radion nor has Ecotech compensated Advanced Aquarist at any time in the past. Even if they were an advertising sponsor (which they are not), we do not allow financial considerations to influence the quality of information.

Thank you for that

salt does not evaporate.... ever wonder why you topoff with RODI and not saltwater? ever wonder why you get salt creep? ever thought about the salt flats? all of this is because when the water evaporates, the salt is left behind.

Umm, obviously:rolleyes:

However, if you have worked around a saltwater tank you'll notice that small droplets invariably kick up above the tank and deposit salt on things. If you're actively sucking in air from above your tank, there's a good chance you're also sucking up any small droplets as well. This may not be a problem for everyone, especially if you keep your fixture high above the tank. However, Ecotech even proposes that you can have this fixture right on top of your tank.

This is not an uncommon phenomenon btw. Buildings that lie near the coast even have problems with salt-laden air:

http://www.buildingdefects.com.au/defect-salt-deterioration.html

There is no wind in home aquaria to whip up salt laden water off of the surface of the tank. If saltwater mist was that fine in home aquaria, it wouldn't matter if the fan was on the top or bottom. The heatsink and fan are completely separate from LEDS and computer components.

i believe it is = to a 250w mh. mrsaltwatertank showed that. and it is a good product. i was just concerned that a splash could damage this 800dollar fixture.

i have had mh burst from a splash at about 9" awl. so of course i know it happens. if ecotech says a splash is no prob ok. do they?

my concern is the fixture, not the fan.

WEll I can say after seeing the radions at MACNA they are nice fixtures. Kind of cool. But I can also say they had 3 on a 6ft tank just like most would do with AI fixtures. I dont think they really cover much better than a AI fixture from what I saw. Both are really nice units for sure. I can say either way you go you will be happy. I am still feeling that the AI is still the better bang for your buck.

Just my two cents after playing with them both and the new AI fixture as well.

Am I mistaken?
I read that 1 radion light is = to a 250 watt MH.
and
1 AI pheonix is = to a 400 watt MH.

The information I read on each was found in the info section of each of the company's website.
