gasman's059 new build!

awesome tank gasman!

how are the corals adjusting to the led tansition? which corals have taken to it and which have not? are there certain colored corals that are not adjusting well? how is growth? Do you feel a lack of light spread with 4 modules to cover 60 x 30?

Sorry for all the questions but I am contemplating making the same transition 400w > ai LED with the same dimension tank.

Thanks!

Well I'm 100% on the bandwagon-- I recently had a typical crash( dropped my SG to freshwater levels) but all my acros after a month are making quite a comeback.

What's intriguing and at the same time encouraging is the fact that even after coming from 400 watt MH's some corals do tend to "white out" if you are not careful while playing with this LED units.

Overall the transition has been a succes and I'm on board with this technology in terms of color and growth. The colors in my opinion and this is after running metal halides for over 20 years tend to be more close to t5 colors than to MH colors, meaning more "pastelish" like.

IMO so called deepwater corals seems to thrive with this lights as well as chalices.

Currently i'm playing with some other stuff and massive feedings ( similar to the old Pappone method) and no doubt the results will be what I'm looking for.

Anyways here's a couple of examples of what can be done with this particular technology-- off course the rest of the husbandry is UP TO YOU.

I just took this really quick and they are only white balanced-- the units are currently running at 100% blue/50% white.I need to get some time and dig out the underwater box to get some niiiiice pics.

Manny colors look great with the leds. Its not easy to work the white balance with leds.

Let us know the trick for those heavy feedings ;) I imagine have something to do with the biopellets. How are they doing their job? I am considering adding some to my tank just to see the results.

Saludos..

Saludos Luisgo--- yes its very hard photography wise to get them real colors but live they loook sweet. As far as the feedings, roger's reef food 2 and 3 times a day. I'm installing a second skimmer this week and I'm gonna feed and feed some more.:frog:

Some top down fun

Some top down fun

I recently got a top down unit from AVASTMarine and was playin with it last night-- hope u guys enjoy.
This top down box is wayy much easier to use now I just need better skills and a macro lens,-- pics where taken with slr and regular 35mm lens.

Slowly but surely the tank is turning that corner !

Super spectacular!! From your perspective, how would you describe the difference in your corals from MH to the new LED's?

BTW, I love the "why can't we be friends" song with your angels. I laughed when it said I remember when you drank my wine.

LOL btw they could not be friends( one did not make it out of QT) I still have two in my tank one adult and one juvi will c)
well here's my take-- some sps love the leds and some don't they just simply look pale and not interesting. Over all the ones that do which IMO is about 80% of what I keep seems to respond remarkably well to the lighting spectrum

My lights are the sol white- my assumption is that the sol blue will give u a better 20k look spectrum.

Overall I would not go back to MH AT ALL.

Np Buddy-- the tank has gone thru a lot of changes inlcuding good ridance to the LEDS.

I can honestly say I've tried every single light system and spectrum there is!!!!!!!!!!!

MH still far superior IMO IME than any other lights if you want SPS.
Currently running T5's with no intention of running MH's manily due to heat and FPL.

WHAT??????????? I thought the LED's where working for you??????

Not that I believed it. :) :blown::blown:

MH, MH, MH, MH, MH, MH, MH, MH. MH. MH, MH!!!!!!!!:dance:

Eddie they work but when u are used to vibrant SPS colors they simply lag. Perhaps I've been used to MH for way too many years.
