24'' fixture

24'' fixture

Hello everyone.
What do you think of this configuration?
I have a 24" infinity now on a 30 X 30 X 26 tank. I am upgrading to a 48 X 30 X 21.
I want to keep my light but adding two AI Sol Blue at each end to take advantage of the dusk to dawn effect.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance!

I think it well work no problem, the SPS well have to be higher I am putting my 24'' 150 Infinity on my 40 breeder.

Hmm i just bought the 24 inch Giessemann infinity with a 150watt De bulb and Giessmann 150 watt ballast ...

do you guys think this is good enough for an sps dominant 24x24x20 inches tank ? i plan on running 2 ati blue plus and 2 ati purple plus bulbs in it..

i currently use Radion g3 pro and not sure if im making a good move from leds to MH

One thing for sure, the Infinity has great spread. The one I have covers the 30 X 30 no problem.
The Radion is also a good light.

I'm in the process of setting up a custom tank. On my current 24" cube, I run a Kessil 360WE and while I love the light's shimmer and color, I just don't get the growth I want for SPS.

So the next tank will be 46"long, by 24" wide, and either 22 or 24" high, located in a small office so heat is a concern. I also want to avoid running a chiller if possible. The tank will be rimless with external CTC so I'm trying to keep with a sleek modern design. I'd love advice on the scenarios I'm contemplating:

Option 1: 24" Spectra 250 W with 2 Kessil 360WEs (one on each side). The idea would be to get the best of both worlds "“ grow SPS in the mid sections of the tank yet have the color pop and sunrise/sunset the Kessil offers (and reduced heat).
Option 2: 48" Infinity 2 X 150 W.
Option 3: 48" Spectra 2 X 250 W.

I have had success in the past running a single 150 MH on a 36" long tank (with some actinics) and never any issues "“ great growth and great results. So I wonder would the 24" have decent spread (hung from ceiling at decent height), or would I be better off just going all in on the 48" spectra?

Anyway, I'd love some feedback since this tank is a few months off, and I can still make any changes to my plans including the tank dimensions.

How soon will you be setting up your new office tank? IMO builds always change. Don't buy anything until your tank is in hand.

I currently have a 250w Reefbrite Pendant over my RedSea Reefer 170 (dimensions 24x20x20) and I really like it but would prefer the color and options given with the giesemann spectra 250w. The 4xt5s give you so many options as well as reduced hours on your main mh bulbs. For instance right now I run my MH for 8 hours. I could reduce that to 4 hours and use t5s during dusk/dawn.

Yeah my thinking is that I would like to run the MH only for 4-6 hours a day. Use the Kessils and the T5s to keep things happy off peak hours. I agree that I'm not buying anything until I have the tank in hand but its fun to plan things out.

Are those 2 posts hung to the tank or fixed in another way?
Any idea about the weight of the Giesemann Matrixx fixtures? Do not seem to get exact information.
TIA

oops sorry missed this post..
The two post are bolted to the back of the stand.
I do not know the exact weight of the fixture but with the piece of glass on top it has some weight to it. It is heaver than my ATI fixture but I do not believe by much.

Just ordered a 24" spectra.

I plan on running a Radium bulb and m80 ballast.

Does anyone have t5 bulb combos they recommend?

Can i get away with this??

Can i get away with this??

I have a 72x30x30 tank and 3 radion pros. If I add 2x24" giesemann spectras in between the 3 radions, would that be enough?do you think that would be enough?

it would be like 1x24" over a 36" tank

Add me to the list. Picked up a Giesemann Spectra 400w. Going to run Radium 400w. Cant wait to get this light over my tank.

Finally added my Other Kessil to my Infiniti

Finally added my Other Kessil to my Infiniti

For a while now i added a kessil 160w to my Infiniti 48" and i finally got around to adding the second one, I am sure glad i did. The shimmer when they are on with the t5's is absolutely amazing. I have them turned down when I have the halids running throughout the day. I am going to dial them back to 4 hours with summer fast approaching.

I had to find away to include the power supply to both LED lights, so i strapped them into the middle in between the MH bulbs

I used these "bridges" not sure what the proper name is to provide power from one cord to both kessil power units.

Final test run before reassembly.

I know there is low lighting, but this is the final product after the kessils are installed.

Everything is controlled from my apex to control the intensity and color of the kessils within the fixture. So i al had to run a long "audio" from the variable input to the kessil

Final tank shot with a 4ft fixture on a 5ft tank with only the kessils lit.

I am happy with the results to take advantage of all the newer technologies!

On a 48" Spectra, would it be possible to swap positions of one of the halide reflectors with the middle cover plate like in the picture below? (In order for the fixture to better fit a smaller tank)

That looks super cool! Are you able to do the middle one?

What are the dimensions of the tank you're trying to light

Hi Zacktosterone.
I am waiting for my custom 40x30x20(tall) to be built :bounce2:
I have been going back and forth between the 8x39 ATI Hybrid and the 24" Spectra for some time now. I prefer the Spectra but fear it may be lacking JUST a bit when it comes to covering the 40" side.

The removable cover-box behind the tank makes the full cabinet length exactly 48", so I figured if I could move one reflector forward and somehow blind the far end of the T5 it could look OK with the 48 Spectra.

At one point, I want max coverage but at the same time I really hate light spills, so I guess 48 is not the best option... but I am toying around with the idea regardless :)

The 24" Spectra would look far superior from a "furniture design" point of view though. Happy wife = more coral$

EDIT:
2x 24" units turned 90 degrees would be better than a slightly modified 48", but both the initial cost and the bulb replacement cost would be higher. (But if I start with the single 24" then at least I have this as a back-up plan)

I'm selling my tank and it looks exactly like this one haha I just bought it from miracles 6 months ago and I'm going with a 250 from them. You should but mine ;). Other than that you don't want to over shoot but you way want to consider the 8 bulb led power module more if you can't mod the fixture

Awww, I should have posted this eariler then! :)
Oh well, I guess shipping to Norway would not have been cheap.

What light fixture(s) did you try on your tank?
