Great Barrier Reef WARNING LOTS OF PHOTOS!

A rare sawfish, a prized display for the aquarium. However, it can be a little short sighted and occasionally bumps into me by accident whilst doing the rounds of the tank. All very tame and gentle though.

Who says shark are dangerous? :)

Water test tank out the back, this is the proverbial canary in the mine, the thriving corals will give the first sign of anything being amiss

At least one Custom (BIG) skimmer for each of the minor tanks

Mini (relative to the main tank) coral tank.

Chillers are mandatory in the summer months

One of the 7 main windows to the main reef exhibit. The photos really really dont do the tank justice, its a faithful replication of a full coral reef lagoon, and a massive piece of it at that

Nautilus in captivity (we have 8 in doing very well)

One of the newest arrivals, a week old leopard shark, one of the pups from the two adults in the predator tank.
Theyve produced quite a few pups which are all happily growing in the aquarium.

It gets fed in the mornings, and sits in your hand.

thanks for the update and photos!

do they use natural sea water?
is the reef tank sun lit?
how deep it the reef tank and what type of corals are maintained at the bottom (lps, sps, softies)?

Sweet update. That looks like a very fun job, even with the shark hugging that apparently goes on.

Did you get my PM from a week ago?

This is a great thread! Keep it up PLEASE! And so you know, I am VERY jealous of your job and where you live! :D

Man...if I hugged our sharks like that it wouldn't be such a pleasant photo :D

As always, great shots. I recently took some pics/vids from in our largest tank, but they aren't even half the quality of yours!

Thanks everyone, been flooded out lately, had a big wet season. about 6 feet of rain so far this year.
Melev, yes! i just checked my pms, id be happy to knock something up, as im one of the aquarists there, but it could take a little bit of time, as im flat out at the moment.
Will keep you updated,

Oh, and another leopard shark pup hatched out this morning as i was cleaning its tank, yet another addition to the family

The obscene amount of rain has also put paid to any dive boats running, everyone is high and dry for a while.

didnt see if its already been posted but does this big tank you are showing have its own independant website??
