I have a 60x30x20" high tank i dont have the tank yet im just doing research and i know this is a difficult anemone to have, I would like to know how tall my rock pedestal should be if i made one in my tank to provide a flat surface for this anemone? I just dont want it to be sitting out of the water since i made the rock pedestal to high.

The key is to make a rock pedestal that requires the nem to move significantly away from the light in order to move around. Generally I'd make it so that the very highest point is no closer to the water surface than eight inches.

it depends on how much light you have. I often have a pedestal 1/2 up the tank under one of the MH (250 or 400). I like point light source. I never use PC or T5 or VHO as main light, just MH.

ill have a radion pro right on top of the pedestal and so if i have the water at 18" the pedestal should be around 9-10"s high?

Agreed! If the rock is too high, the anemone will flatten out at the surface which both looks bad and I'd suspect is not good for the animal. 10 inches high in an 18" tall; 16 in a 24, etc.

That would be about right. Too high and the tank does not look nice.

question since i can still change the height of the tank would 22" be better so the pedestal can be a little bit higher? or what would you recommend on the height? the stand will be around 30" high.

I never met an anenome that would stay where it was placed, it will move around and pick its own best location

I had mine on a island, until it was able to reach the glass and then went on the move.New setup will be less rock and abit further from the glass.

What DrPat said. Put it anywhere because it will move somewhere else. My magnifica would stay in a place for about a year then relocate.

Something must have changed in the aquarium. They are very sensitive creatures, the slightest change will result in a move. A podium as Minh stated is the ideal rockwork for these beautiful animals (H. Magnifica) ;) Always MH ! :)

The only thing that I know that changed in my tank was the H mag growing to big for the rock it had been on for about 8 months. lol

Yes, really is ideal if your Mag cannot touch the sides of the aquarium. I've always had mine in a big tank in the past so no walkabout. Right now mine is in a 90 so potential problems as it grows.
