I'm not sure if your referring to me or the whole "lots of tangs" idea in general. I have 50 fish, 14 are tangs so I assume you are referring to "other" tanks ;)

Who, me? No, I was referring to the OP (sorry, should have used the quote button :) ). My point was that, if he's already concerned about mixing too many tangs, why not just not worry about it and get some other fish, that's all. And yes, I love me my PBT and tomini, so it's not like I'm a tang hater :D

ok n/p.
I think the lure of many tangs is the fact that they are good for a reef tank, they will mow down anything that grows in the tank (besides coral) so thats a benefit and they are colorful. What else in the large fish category would one add? Angels are risky, butterflys are risky, triggers bad, eels? sharks?
I mean other than a bunch of chromis or anthias which we all have anyway, I think Tangs are just a good choice.

I totally agree. But yes, I would add genicathus angels, x triggers, heniochus/pyramid/zoster butterflies, rabbitfish, etc.

x triggers would be cool, I never really see them that often.

I think a bunch of wrasse would be cool, they have a pair in Denver for $800 they are amazingly colored and patterned. I can't remember the name though. I have seen them online sell for like $600 each sometimes, but i hate how wrasse jump out of the tank and bake on the top braces. I've had that happen in the past quite a bit :( I may try in this tank though

Pink tail triggers are cool too and you don't see them that often. Mines about 8" long now. :D

I also have a bunch of wrasses in my tank vice Anthieas of which I have none. I need to get some new pic's posted of them.

Current tank inhabitants are:

Tangs;
pair of Naso's
Pair of yellow's
Blue hippo

Wrasses;
Red Corris
Lepoard
carpenters flasher
yellow
yellow triangle. (don't remember the name of it)

Angels;
female Bellus (looking for a male now)
Coral beauty
Rusty

Other;
Pink Tail Trigger
Leaf fish
Pair of Gold Stripped marron Clowns
Copper Banded Butterfly
Pair of Royal Gramma's

I think that's all of them. I have no problems with any of them. The blue hippo is a wimp and hides a lot. The Naso's cruize the tank together. The yellows follow behind sometimes and will even get right up with them when I feed a sheet of nori. After my Naso's, which are my pride and joy, my favorite fish is my adult red corris wrasse. Beautiful colors and dosen't bother a thing in the tank.
