Holy Moley! That's really what I call a "Tang Salad" (sorry tang salad), It sounds like alot but if you can keep them happy then I would do it 'cause I love dem tangs. Cough up some PIC'S!

What are the dimensions of your tank?

Frankly, with a 875 gallon tank, I can't see 12 tangs being much of an issue volume wise. I'd be more worried about compatibility issues with respect to species, i.e., look-alikes such as yellows and purples going after each other, or general dominance issues such as those often seen by kole and powder blues. However, with an 875, there should be plenty of spaces to hide.

My jealousy knows no bounds.

JK, with a tank that size you'll have to be your own judge of how many is too many. It looks like the ones you have now are all quite small, so don't forget to figure in their adult sizes whan making any calculations.

Any family photos?

The big question you need to answer is how big do they get?

I know my male Naso is currently sitting at about 13" long. I had a Vlamingi that was 13" along with a sailfin that was about 10" I got rid of those two as I wanted some smaller fish and corals in my 400 G tank.

Right now I have a 13" male Naso, 9" female Naso, Pair of 3" yellow tangs, and a 6" blue hippo tang. My other large fish is a 7" pink tail trigger and a 5" Red Corris Wrasse. The rest of my fish are less than 3". With that said, my tank looks full with just these fish in there.

So if your going with more tangs in a 875, be careful as they may be too much once they get to full adult size.

I have a L=10' x W=4' x H=30" tank, and I have the following tangs. I do not plan on adding anymore. All are happy and fat, with no aggression.

My 2 cents!

Naso Blonde Tang, Male
Vlamingi Tang
Dussumieri Tang
Sailfin (Desjardini) Tang
Sohal Tang
Powder Blue Tang
Achilles Tang
Yellow Tang
Purple Tang
Blue Hippo Tang
Flame Fin Tomini Tang

If I were you I would get every single tang that is possible to fit, stay happy, and be compatable in that tank!

I truly belive that tang compatibility and size of the tank is the major factors here. Also, I have also been introducing them onto the main tank in a rather organized matter. Least aggressive first, and then semi, then last ( and the smallest size) aggressive ones. I hold them in my 150 gallon sump for about 2 months until they are fat and eat regularly. This helps with there survival the first few days when they will get picked on. I also try to add more then one at a time, this also helps reduce aggression towards one in-particular. I have had success with this in the past, and am doing this with success on my newest tank.

I would definitely add the yellow, purple and blue hippo all at the same time. And try to get ones that are all the same size. This will be the best way to do it, IMHO!! If you can, segregate them in your sump and get each of them eating for a few weeks, then one evening add them all to the tank at the same time..

I doubt there would be any problems. They can get along..... sometimes.

Occasionally you will probably have a scuffle.

This is a pic of my Naso and Powder Blue sharing nori like a plate of spaghetti.

BTW: The clam is 8" for size reference.

Im building a tank like bstones to give my friends the best possible home I can provide.

Hey guy's (sorry for the hijack) but I am thinking about trading in my female unicorn (she eats everyone's food and has big-o- poops) and I want to get a blonde naso (I love the pic of tkeracer619's tang My three tangs are in the pic's above, yellow tang, powder blue, and unicorn. So what do you think will the blue and yellow be O.K. with it?

I would definitely do all at the same time. And try to get ones that are all the same size.
I have 6 tangs in my 500 and only two dont get along every so often and thats my powerblue and my achiles tang the achiles keeps buging the powerblue the dume thing is the power is twice his size a kick the **** out of it once the powder gets mad !

I have a 560/g 120x36x30 and have the same amount of tangs

I think its whats your filtration and how the tank is set up. My tank is very open and is 3 sided which adds to the total swim space. atm I have
naso 12"
B Naso 10"
red sea sailfin 8"
orange shoulder 4"
atlantic blue 3"
mimic 4"

I also have 17 anthias. 8 chromis and 4 pajama
2 gobie cleaners

my next additions is another shoal of anthias 4 more chromis and 3 yellow and 3 purple and 1 Dussumier tang that should do it. which should give me 13 tangs 30 anthias 12 chromis and the 4 pjs's

The tangs you are wanting to add are not going to get huge so I'd say its a no brainer, go ahead and add them
I would do 6 of the zebrasomas though not 1 of each and add them all at one time. Otherwise they may fight, and several tangs looks cooler anyway.
I'll throw in a pic of part of my herd of 14 tangs because we all love pictures right?

Variety is the spice of life. Why use up all your bioload space on tangs?

hey reefkoi
how are the yellows doing together?

SDguy
I think as you get into the bigger tanks you like seeing these big lumbering hulks swimming around like sharks. 24/7 my two naso's swim together ( both streamer males) even at night its cool to go past the tank and see them circling while the rest hide in the rockwork.

I'm not sure if your refering to me or the whole "lots of tangs" idea in general. I have 50 fish, 14 are tangs so I assume you are refering to "other" tanks ;)

VP: they get along great, the only fussing I ever see is 2 of the 3 convicts seem to have a thing for each other and chase sometimes. The yellows at first really tested each other but now I never ever see the yellows or the purple chase.
