How not to build a 750/1500 gallon build thread-Khaosinc 3/5/71-8/30/11

still being nice and agreeable. My old skimmer didn't pull this much out in 2 weeks...

everything looks happy in there, I really need to clean today.

I'm undecieded whats happening to it yet. Its actually the model down from this one, the 750-4 (shorter and only 4 pumps) one is cooked though. I am thinking of using the top of it to extend the neck on this one a bit...

only 3 days, and its not like I'm skimming tea out of the tank either...

I'm thinking of just taping the other neck I have on top of this one to see how I like an extra 1' of neck... should make much nicer sludge. Without major mods to it, I can't lower the water any more in the skimmer body.

Nice. Sailfins still a poser. Love sailfins, wear their emotions on their sleeve. I was gonna suggest a gimp to clean ya glass, but it doesn't look as dirty as you made out!

I scraped that side clean so I could take a pic... I let it go for a couple weeks do my order from reef cleaners could have something to do when it got here. Then 1/2 of it was hammered due to someone useing the box for javilin practice. Kinda been distracted with a non reef project the last couple of days as I have a helper for it.

LOL... don't ya hate it when someone does a big change to their tank and doesn't show any pics of what everything looks like.... giggle...

well, I kinda accidently bought this tank and everything in it...

An entire truckload just in fish and coral... and just a little extra live rock. My sump is almost full

009-2.jpg

also have a bunch of live rock this size... (I couldn't lift it out of the tank by myself.)

005-8.jpg

If I had bothered to clean it, you could see that the 1/2 of the 300 gallon tank that is my frag tank is full... really really full
008-3.jpg

the second truckload was just equipment..

001-4.jpg

002-3.jpg

003-1.jpg

and a spare sump, and a mess of unused acrylic... and I'm not even sure whats in the boxes, theres also a full bucket of powerheads..

004-7.jpg

the third truckload brought over the live sand, some stuff I'm to tired to get out of my truck, and the biggest PITA fish to catch... christmas wrasse.
010.jpg

I also added 3 tangs, 3 chalk bass, a CBB (that eats) 1/2 dozen misc small fish, a golden moray eel, a red BTA w/ breeding maroon clowns, coral beauty that ignores corals, phych manderin that eats frozen food, and another dozen corals to my tank as my frag tank is full... Gave DJ the other RBTA some rock and powerheads as he saved my hindquarters getting all that moved and well, he's a cool guy. No one else showed to help.. LOL.

I still have another truckload of stuff, not to mention a 260 gallon tank, stand and sump to move, with 3 pumps running a closed loop.

All for less than a reasonable cost of the 400 pounds of live rock I brought home

My tank is officially full and stocked.... maybe tommorow I'll even take pics...I literally just had to cut my boots off because my feet are so swollen.

is it a sign you might have added a bit much to your system if it takes 50 gallons+ of water just to acclimate everything....?

Kev
Just open up a used equip store. Make the prices low but the catch being they have to help you for a cpl hours on your tanks :). I think you might officially have enough extras to do everything you need to for the next cpl of months.
PS.... get some rest now or the DR's might make you rest in there bed instead of your couch!!!!!!

LOL... do I have DEAL DEAL DEALS (picture that monster truck boomiing echoy voice) for you. Come on down to khaos's house of Junk. We have cars, we have projects, we have fin fur fins and frogs. how about some better teasers... I really need to clean the tank today..

sailfins getting along. Next time you think about that cute little sailfin, keep in mind what it grows in to... and the CBB in the lower left is eating... hopefully it can do some damage on my spaghetti worm plague

018-4.jpg

Hippos are just as friendly...

027-1.jpg

some new corals....
028.jpg

My fungi died a couple days ago almost overnight. not sure why..

030-2.jpg

PITA fish to catch...
021.jpg

the only real aggression (not surprising) is that the RBTA settled on a spot about 6" from the fire clowns nem... Maroon pair VS fire clown... its still a draw. for size reference, that pic is 4' away from the nem, he's in the back corner of the tank.

026-2.jpg

don't ask me why I put Damsels in my tank...
027-1.jpg

Mangroves coming along...
024-3.jpg

and roots..
025-1.jpg

LOL... so much for the maroons being the tough guys. they are busy trying to host some Xinia, and there is a slightly beat up looking but very satisfied fire clown in the RBTA now...

Female maroon is easily 1" longer than the fire... but just couldn't handle his/her stubbernness.

One of these days I have got to do something about those cords.... LOL

more pics..
