I got them Red Bugs

I'd advise running a second round to be 100% sure you got every last red bug. I did two treatments a week apart. Some people do three treatments.

Still no more red bugs.

I did have all of my emerald crabs and hermit crabs die off. It did not appear at first but now it has become very apparent. There is a bad smell and then there are the dead crabs that have started being dragged out by the fish and snails. There is an alage bloom happening too.

Im not sure if a water change would have changed anything in regards to that die off. However, I would advise getting out as many crabs as possible, I could just never see mine or get them because of my rock work. So be aware that may be a problem for some.

Another experience to report:

I also dosed Dr. G's at 1 mL per gallon. Removed all crabs and shrimp and my urchin prior to dosing. Red Bugs turned bright pink and stopped moving and then got blown off the coral within a couple of minutes. Waited 24 hours and added carbon to the system.

Thought all was good but ran a second dose 1 week later (2 days ago) just to be sure and saw more bright pink dots falling off the acros, so apparently I still had some even though I couldn't see them when they were alive. Strongly recommend anyone also do a second dose.

Plan on doing a third and final dose the end of this week.

It all depends on your infestation. Three doses is the accepted norm for Red Bugs.

I used the Dr. G's Coral Dip treatment in-tank.

I had AEFW but seemingly have got rid of them a few weeks back. I did have Red Bugs though, enough to make most of my Acropora unhappy.

I dosed 30ml (1ml per gallon) and left it for 12 hours with no Carbon and my Skimmer off. After 12 hours, I put in some carbon. Following 24 hours I did a 10 gallon water change and almost instantly Acropora started releasing polyps, some I haven't seen in a long time.

I'm continuously monitoring my Acropora for signs of anything. Knock on wood, nothing so far and corals seem to be much happier already.

Debating on doing a second dosage.. I may just to make sure everything is dead.

Can anyone make claim about its usefulness against AEFW?

Dr. G's coral dip will do ABSOLUTELY nothing for AEFW. AEFW defeat is accomplished by going fallow of Acros's in your main display for 5-10 weeks and quarantining your Acro's in another system while dipping them 2x a week in Bayer.

Is this your experience with Dr gs as it relates to aefw?

Did the third dose. Saw no more bright pink spots falling off acros, so think I'm good to go.

took me a single dip with Bayer to get rid of red bugs because it was concentrated to one colony on one rock.. Never showed up again but the colony bleached pretty hard and has taken about 4 months to recover.. Maybe I just dipped it longer than most people so it took only one dip?

That's odd. I've dipped quite a few Acropora in Bayer and never had one bleach out on me. I've soaked them for 30 mins with no ill effects.

Really odd. A buddy left a colony in over night on accident. Woke up at like 4-5AM and realized he never took it out of the dip. Was super irritated but never bleached or anything of that nature.

I ended up losing quite a few snails/hermits due to leftover Interceptor in the tank. My serpent starfish pulled through, but acted funny for several weeks.

I suggest doing large water changes after treatment or running tons of carbon to remove the medication since it will slowly kill off weak invertebrates.

Other than that it's a great in tank treatment for red bugs and I haven't seen them since.

Your post has me a bit confused.

You mentioned losing snails and hermits due to left over Interceptor. You dosed both Dr G's and Interceptor or only Dr G's?

I have what looks like white bugs and thinking of using Dr G's if i don't find Interceptor or Sentinel locally.
