I-Tech Skimmer Club .

I haven't checked the skimmer pump let alone the cord in months. How often is everyone taking apart and cleaning the pump?

Not as ofter as I should. On my reef maintenance priority list it keeps getting bumped down. Also, each time I've done it, I get micro bubbles for a week from the volute gasket and drives me crazy. They go away once slimed over but certainly a nusiance. ...cord is still good, I did check that last time...3 months ago (cough-cough)

An update I bought one of the early models 220 with the Sicce pump and I upgraded to the Tunze 9420 about 4 months ago. After I took it out and cleaned it I put the pump back in and noticed that the air line tube was twisted the skimmer seemed to be working correctly but I noticed in the past of a very slow skimmate production like a finger wide in three or four days, since I have a nitrate problem red slime problem and hair algae problem I was perplexed . So I made sure that the air line tube was not twisted, this is the part that goes from the skimmer to the air tube it is about 1 1/2 long my skimmer is now pulling two cups a day out on my 120. So my recommendation for the Tunze owners is check the air tubing for kinks or twisting and also check the electrical cord for splitting where it enters the pump there is a 2 year warranty on these pumps. PS for the 400 users there will be a bigger Hydrofaomer than the the 9420 more like a Askol 1500 I believe.

I posted about the cords on this thread I would keep checking them due too fact they have a 2 year warranty, mine is over 1 year old so I will check it again this weekend.

Just cleaned my pump and there is not much to be cleaned. Cord is perfect. I think the pump does not to be taken apart as often. It's been at least 6 months

Reading over these post and picked up one the other day. I am not sure it is supposed to have a gasket at the neck or not but if someone can chime in that would be helpfull. It is the i-Tech 100 and all seems to be right just not tight around the neck as it just sits on top of the base. Also were can you find info on these other than in forums?

My 200 has an O-ring gasket. I found a replacement O-ring at my local hardware store (truvalue). After u replace the O-ring u will find it can b a little hard to set the cup in place. I use a drop of Olive oil and spread it on the bottom 1/8" of the neck

I've got a question for the 200 users. I'm currently running my 200 on a 165 gal system. I would like to upgrade to a 250 gal system with alot of sps. Do you guys think my 200 would be able to keep the 250 system clean? The tank would be 225 + sump I'm thinking 250ish. Is any one running a 200 on a 200 plus gallon system?

I was told Tunze has a new hyperfoamer pump 9430.04. I haven't been able to find any info on this pump. Has anyone else? If so what are the specs?

I know this sounds dumb, but has anyone done any modifications to any of their i-Tech's (like recalculation or adding a second pump)?

I'm pretty sure they were made 2 ways, 1 should have the O-ring that the neck slips into, and the other is a sort of bayonette base where you turn it a 1/4 turn.

This is the best place for this type of info. You can call the MFG..PM me if you need the number.

Are the i-Tech skimmers ozone safe? I'm thinking of running ozone in my system. I already have the carbon lid assembly so that's a plus.

Lost a major US parts supplier as a part of the economic downturn was what I was told by the man himself. Said they were looking for a replacement that was cost effective and had the quality they were looking for. That was a couple months ago. Not sure what is going on now.
