If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello everyone,

I am new here. Working on setting up my first saltwater reef tank. I have always wanted 1, and just recently had a chance to get started on 1. It is a 44 gallon corner tank. I've got as far as getting water, salt, sand and live rock in it so far. Just added the last of the water, so waiting for the sand to settle down so I can see how it looks inside. I'm 43 yrs old (will be 44 in a few days) and live in Harpursville, NY.

Thanks,

Dan:wavehand:

and happy birthday.

Just getting started

Just getting started

Hello all. I recently decided to fulfill a longtime desire to start a reef tank. Years ago, I had a 30 gallon tank which I knew nothing about. This time around, I'm taking my time and doing things right.

I bought a 75g tank. The stand I bought for it has small cabinets and an open area underneath. Its not big enough to house my sump, so I'm in search for a separate enclosure to set next to my tank. I also purchased an Aquaticlife 4x54w T5 fixture, a Berlin BSM-150 sump, Mag Drive 700 pump, Bubble Magus NAC6 protein skimmer, and a 500gph overflow box.

I've been reading as much as I can on how all of these things work together. I plan on reading through many of the posts on the forum, before I start asking my beginner questions.

I really look forward to learning a lot, and creating a successful and beautiful reef tank.

sounds like you're on the right track. Have you read through all the stickies at the top of the 'New to the hobby' forum? If not I suggest it.

Ahh,a young buck. I'm about to put retired in front of my name. Hopefully you're going to make a career out of it, and let me say thanks for your service.

Thanks, and congrats on the soon to be retirement. My uncle is about to retire from the navy in june. I'm hoping to make it a career also just hoping all this downsizing doesnt catch up to me lol.

Yeah, I'm working along side "you guys" on a Navy base and know too well what your facing. There's a lot of E5's that are trying to save their career as well. Hope things work out for you.

I guess I'm not new, but I'm new again. :)
I'm in the process of switching from salt to reef and I'm totally stressed out. I'll be beating the doors down here for a good time to come.
Thank God for all you guys and girls, the wealth of knowledge here is absolutely incredible, and its very much appreciated!!!

Hello All!

Hello All!

Hey guys. I've had my tank cycled and sustaining life for nearly a month now. I have steadily fallen in love with the habit, and now I've decided to finally start joining the forum I have been checking for answers since the start. I have a 70 gal reef community system, my profile has more details, or at least the max I'm aloud to fit in. Open to any comments. =]
