Hello Everyone, Names Chris and im over in the orlando area of florida and 29 years old. Decided to take that step from freshwater tanks to salt water. So im extremly new to the salt game. Ive had Africian Cichlids for some years now. Got extremly tired of all the water changes and massive clean outs from the filters. Always been interested in reefs. Ended up buying a 29 gallon Biocube last night with pink fiji and a korelia 425 PH. Good friend of mine told me this was a great forum and told me to register so thats how i arrived here. Im hoping its cycle will go faster then normal so i can start adding all the eye candy i have in mind. Really not a whole lot else to say, i just look forward to chatting and seeing alot of fellow hobbists. And yes First post is Here where it should be!

hey everyone, i know my join date says 2011 but i have only recently become active on here over the last few weeks. I will be posting a build thread of my 40 breeder. Keep your eyes out. First tank and i could use all the help i can get!

Hi folks introducing myself here. Zero experience with fish aside from the three gold fish I killed back in 1984. I'm here to learn as much as possible before I start. Waiting on buying my house before I start putting together a tank so I got a lot of time.

Hello Fellow Reef'ers

Hello Fellow Reef'ers

Hello, my name is Paul. I've had freshwater tanks off and on for a long time but Im new to saltwater and RC. I have a 60gal acrylic tank with a sump and skimmer. I think they are Marineland products(tank is Clear For Life tho). I have live rock but Im not sure how much, but I dont think its enough.

All my stuff was given to me and I've never had saltwater so I've got a lot of information from Googling and ending up on this site. So I would like to thank people for all the advise you knowledgeable people give that I've been able to read thus far.

Thanks and Hello

What's up RC! I'm definitely new around here but not so much the hobby. I consider myself an experienced fish keeper and am looking forward to keeping a reef. I've had a tank off and on for over 12 years now and just recently became able to set up my display tank of 55gal in my new place about 3 months ago. It's up and going nicely and full of life, but am slowly gathering information and "blueprinting" my next (larger) tank for a reef. I know I'll need way better filtration, plumbing a sump and probably better lighting but that's what I'm here for. I'm analytical by nature so I'll be creeping around here scoping out all the details I can get. Looking forward to things around here, it looks like a great community.

Hi everyone, my name is Xuyen (Sing) and I am new here and to the hobby. Been reading up on all the great info from RC and started off with a 34G Solana with help from a fellow friend and RC member here. Since then, I now have moved up to a 57G Oceanic Illuminata rimless tank.

Hello to everyone online here at RC. I'm a long time reef keeper but have been out of the hobby for about 12 years. Just getting back into things and boy has it changed. A lot of the basics are still the same, but I have a lot of reading to do. I better get to it ......

Hello everyone! My name is Scott and I live in St Charles, MO. I've wanted to build a reef for 8 years now, just heard so many stories of how hard it is and was scared away. I was sitting on a 110g tank for 7 of those 8 years and because of space, never set it up. I just set up a Biocube 29 (2 weeks ago) and currently waiting for the tank to cycle. I'm so excited! I understand the importance of going slow and while I wait, I read threads and find out as much info as I can cram. This site is AWESOME! I would like as much advice as I can get to make this ride that much more enjoyable. Wish me luck!

Hi everyone!

I'm new to RC. I've had a sw fish tank on and off for about four years and now a friend gave me a 45g tank with some fish and corals for free.
I wanna do this one right so I got on RC to see how others are setting up there tanks. My goal is to have a successfulk sps tank, let's see what happens.

I got a ocellaris clown fish about 3 weeks ago. I put him in a 55 gallon tank with a blue devil damsel and 3 stripped damsel and a two stripped damsel, of course the blue devil gave him a hard time and he was so stressed that at one point i thought he would die but its week three and hes still alive. is he too stresses to add another clown so they can pair?

Hello my name is Sunshine, I'm kinda new here, kinda not. I'm here almost every day you just can't see me. I love how informational this site is!!! I learn soooo much every day!!!:wavehand:

Hi everyone, my name is Erik and I thought I should stop in and say hi since I've been to RC a lot but haven't actually posted until just recently. Anyways my main tank is a 40 long (60x12.5x12.5) with an Ehiem XP3 canister filter. I am looking to replace the filter with a sump and change the current lighting over to LED since it is time to replace the bulbs and will cost close to the same price as switching to LEDs.

I also have a 55 which was given to me. It currently only has live rock and a few inverts with some HOB filters. It currently doesn't have any fish.

Anyways, I hope that this site will be a good resource while trying to get my tanks to get my tanks to the point I want them to be.

Erik

Hello,

I have been in the hobby for a little over a year now and just recently joined the RC forums.

I have a 75gal reef tank with a 40gal breeder sump. I run a 36" AquaticLife light fixture with 4 t5 actinics and 2 150W MH, a Mag 7 return pump, and a Euroreef CS8-2 skimmer with Sedra 5000 pump.

I currently have a Blue Hippo Tang, a Tominiensis Tang, a Coral Beauty, a HummaHumma Trigger, a Six-Line Wrasse, a Diadema Psuedochromis, a Blue Devil Damsel, an Engineer Goby, and two Clownfish.

I also have about 15 different types of coral in my tank at the moment.

Anyway, Glad to be here.

New to the Reef game. Started this year. Have a 20 Gallon running really great now. Start up was a little rocky but, after a little time and experience it has really grown into a wonderful and healthy tank. Cant wait to get my next tank started. so hooked now. Hear a lot of good things about this site from friends so cant wait to be an active member in the threads.

Hi everyone, my name is Mark and I've been in the aquarist hobby since I was 12 years old. That would make about 26 years. I started with community fresh, then aggressive fresh, then saltwater fish only, then freshwater SA, then African cichlid, and then flowerhorn pair. Now I keep a 220 South American mix. I'm a regular on the MFK forums.

I have decided to go back into the marine and am currently cycling a 90 gallon soon to be reef. I'm running an old amiracle wet/dry w/ a rio1700 pumping about 352 gal/Hr. An emperor 400 HOB powerfilter. A corallife CF w/4 65w 10,000k bulbs. (Replacing as I want the blue).

Currently in shipment - I will be running
-a Coral vue reef octopus 110 protein skimmer
-a 48-60" Marineland reef capable LED system w/ timer. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=24725
-Hydor Koralia Mag 5 powerhead.

water- 77 degrees 1.024 salinity 8.2 pH additional water perameters will be assessed when I get my test kits delivered shortly.

I am a grizzled vet w/ fish tanks and a complete rookie w/ a reef system. I'll be taking it slowly and am very open to any advice direction or suggestions. I'm not open to sarcastic know-it-alls who try to increase their self-esteem by patronizing and belittling others. ie. comic book guy from The Simpsons. I'm a happy friendly guy who loves fish.

I'm leaning towards anemones. Various crustaceans, clams and a few ref safe fish.
If anyone has any feedback on my system please share as I'm looking to get it right the first time.
or suggestions on hardy inverts that are both interesting and sustainable from our oceans. I do not want to buy any threatened species and kill them with my learning curve.

Thanks, it''ll be great to meet you all.
