If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello!

Hello!

My names Mike and im pretty new to this - i had a 100G aquarium in my old office in Canada and had someone help me with 75% of the work - i really missed it when i moved to California and i just got a 70G Cadlights aquarium setup going in my new office. I have a fellow i met through Cadlights Ed Fernandez helping me get up and running and both he and Eddie from Cadlights have been fantastic to deal with.

Im looking forward to chatting with everyone on RC and I can hardly wait to see my tank progress.

Hello all, Im Nic and I am very new to saltwater. I have had a few FW tanks years ago and when a friend was giving his marine tank away i jumped at the chance to own my own little piece of the ocean. The tank was established with LS,About 60 lbs of LR. and no live stock. So started researching and reading everything i could. I have slowly been buying equipment and recently broke the tank down scrubbed the tank, the rock and replaced the sand. I figured with no live stock my LR could use a tune up so i began a fishless cycle. Progress has been slow, my kids have been patiently waiting for a "nemo" and swmbo has been understanding and semi generous. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and the tank. I look forward to talking with everyone and wanted to say thank you for any and all answers and advice in advance as i will most likely be asking a few questions.

Hey everyone!

Finally got the ok to set a tank up and I'm very excited. (I've been lurking for quite some time )
My tank has finally finished cycling (after a full month) and I got to pick up a few inhabitants today. I've attached a full tank shot as well as my frogspawn that appears to be happy in its new home.
My two clowns are being clowns and still hiding hopefully they'll come out tomorrow and I can get a pic of them :)

Here's my equipment list,
Biocube 29 (carbon and sponge filters removed)
30lb of "live rock" (it's the fake stuff, I didn't want any hitch hikers)
30lb live sand
CPR skimmer (in the middle chamber)
Apex control module (with ph probe and wireless module for the vortechs)
2 VorTech mp10s
And a kessil A360w for lighting.
Oh, almost forgot I use an RO/DI system for water.
I'm currently working on parts for an ATO

Hi

Hi

Hi, my name is Dave and I'm pretty much a newbie with reef aquariums. Adopted a 150 gallon setup from a friend who couldn't maintain it anymore along with a few fish, live rock, a sump / refugium, crabs and snails. All up for about six weeks after the tear down and move and doing well. Looking forward to networking with some others in central Oklahoma.

Hi my name is Umesh. I've caught the "bug" and trying to figure out how to start right. One of the options presented to me, is to buy a running reef tank from a reefer that wants to go big (he wouldn't be a reefer if he didn't, right ?).

Hi Ken here. Been running freshwater tanks for some time now and have recently started two saltwater tanks. One small 20 gallon and a show piece 300 gallon saltwater fowlr tank.

Hello,

I am new to this hobby, my friend Jimmy got me into this. Just recentlly setup an nano 38 gallon. One question, how do you know when the water is ready to put in the fish or corals?

Im new to Reef Central and new to maintaining a saltwater tank. I am loving this new hobby. I just started my tank cycling today. I am grateful for any pointers! Thank you!

I am running a 55 gallon LED Aquarium with BIO-Wheel filtration. I have maintained freshwater tanks all through my life but this is my first attempt with saltwater. I want to make sure I do it right.

Hello from Cleveland! I am new to saltwater tanks and even newer to forums. Just learning how to use this system and am impressed with how much information is here for all to use as well as helpful members. I got hooked on saltwater by helping my boyfriend with his tank and absorbing his knowledge and excitement. The day I bought a fish to keep in his tank (a scooter blenny) is when I knew I wanted to dive in myself. He found me a great used tank and accessories deal at a LFS and I'm on my way. My tank info should hopefully show up in my signature line below. Cheers!

Trying once more to see if I was able to fix signature.

Born Again!

Born Again!

Hello All! My interest in the hobby began 12 or so years ago as a teenager working at a local reef tank store in Reston, VA. Dan Turk of the Washington Redskins was a customer of ours who decided to give me his entire 150 gal reef tank (equip, live rock, fish, corals, the works). What an amazing gift! Unfortunately I had to give it up when I went off to college. Well, I now have a job, wife, baby, and house so I believe it is finally time to carry on the dream! I plan to be here for many years so I have all the time to work slowly and get it all just right! Time to buy a few books and start planning!

I understand that there are some trading forums here but I don't see anything. Is it true that these become available after a certain amount of participation in the group? I'm hoping to use this down the road in the set up and expansion of my system. Any info on that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric.

Hello everyone. I am from Michigan and has been keeping FW planted tanks for about 15years. Currently I have a 90gallon planted tank with Discus. Though I've not kept SW tanks till now, I used to read about them and had a basic idea of how things work in that ecosystem. This newyear I decided to give SW a try and after 4 months of extensive research, I got a 24gallon JBJ nanocube last week. Added some LR and dry sand and the tank has been cycling for the past 4 days.

I hope to enjoy SW as much as I enjoy my planted tanks. For now I hope to stick with my nano tank. But am sure down the road, I'll get the uncontrollable urge to go big tank :)
