120G Acrylic Marine tank. Need advise :)

Hello Folks,
I wish to introduce myself here -.. thanks in advance for any advise/suggestion/help.

1. Been in the hobby for ~25years
2. Mostly freshwater - used to go on fish catching expeditions in the wild, its fun!
3. I've dealt with both acrylic and glass tanks and at one point had ~800 gallons of discus-water
4. Had a 20G marine tank once before, but bristleworms' invasion gross'd me out, I reached a point of "scr3w it!"
5. Want to re-start a fish only saltwater tank, to start with (I can afford live rock, but scared of bristleworms - I will certainly need your advise here)
6. Bought a 120G recently with a bunch of holes pre-drilled in the back that I'm planning to plug with sch 80 bulkhead plugs and caps
7. Bought 2 of the 24" Current USA marine LEDs.. like it
8. Have 2 AquaC remoras
9. Have a 40G acrylic sump.
10. Have attached some pics... plz help me get started :)

Hi. I'm a teacher in Canada who is wanting to bet back into the hobby. I had a 20 gallon saltwater tank in university. Now that I'm established I would like to have a larger tank where I can keep more corals, anemones, clown fish and a lion fish. Just re learning it all now.

Hi everyone! I just joined the forum, and I look forward to learning a lot from everyone. I just got a 29gal bowed front tank with stand. I plan to go slowly of course, and learn as much as I can. I plan to use crushed live coral as opposed to sand. I have a Fluval C3 filter pump that I plan to use. I plan to use approximately 10lbs of live rock, and once the tank is ready, I will introduce two Clown fish.

This is my new tank! I would appreciate your advice and any suggestions as to how to proceed.

Jumping back into the hobby again after a long long hiatus. Picked up a biocube from my buddy and just set it up last night! Hoping to get her up and running soon!

hello

hello

Hello everyone Im a few months in on reef central love the site very helpful. I even posted my first diy stand build for my 110 which is still in transformation currently putting 23in touch screen pc for controller into fascia of stand. I have 20 gallon nano 40 gallon and 110 gallon. And still want bigger lol.

Hullo everyone. I've been lurking for a while now, and have decided that I should at least introduce myself.

A friend of mine got me addicted to fishkeeping when he forced me to buy a 3 gallon fish tank to "spice up my room" 2 years ago. Oh those were the good ol' days of ignorance. I quickly learned the first hand importance of cycling, and began to devour information on fish keeping. Within 3 months, I had upgraded to a 30 gallon high-tech planted tank.

9 months ago, I delved into the nano-reef hobby, and have been keeping nano reefs since. I currently have a 6 gallon de-rimmed fluval edge running and am thinking about upgrading soon. Oh the joys of wanting more.

Once again, hi everyone! I'm really excited to join this community.

Hellooooo!

Hellooooo!

I have a strange situation, I guess. I started working for a new company back in March and they have a 270 gallon reef tank with a 30 or so gallon sump. I'm guessing we have about 50lbs of live rock and 6 different types or coral (sorry, I'm still learning the names).

As for fish, we have: one Yellow Tang, one Angel Swallowtail, one African Midas Blenny(she's the one I picked out), one Foxface Rabbitfish, 2 Clown fish, 2 Diamond gobies, 2 Engineer gobies, 5 Green Chromis, and 5 Blue-Eyed Cardinalfish.

Other things we have are: 5 Emerald crabs, one Sea Cucumber, 4 Peppermint shrimp, one Fire Shrimp, 2 other shrimp (not sure of the name), a few hermit crabs, some snails, and one starfish.

Currently, I have discovered quite a few bristleworms and the guy that cleans the tank is bringing some traps. I really hope they work, those things are creepy!!

Anyways, I'm Lauren:wavehand:..I've discovered that I love taking care of this tank and I'm so happy to be able to do so! :lol2:

Hello everyone! New to reef central so I thought I'd post. Had a 29 gal for a few years and just set up a 55 with sump, got about 50lbs of lr and ls. Tanks been up for a week or so doin good so far. Hello

Hello

Hi,
I'm new to the hobby; had freshwater when I was a kid and always wanted a reef tank. Now that I have kids, we can justify the expense. It's been priceless all the hours we've spent as a family just sitting around the tank. It's only a month old and we just put livestock in two days ago. Love the tank and now the hobby. Loving this site just reading posts. Thanks to all for their expertise and neighborliness.

Welcome to reef central! I've had aquariums for the past 11 years or so. For the last 3 years I've had 3 and in the last 6 weeks I've added 3 more. I asked a few questions when I first joined this forum about my tanks but I've discovered that nearly all the questions I have someone else has already asked. Yes reading other posts are extremely helpful. Alot of memebers here are so far advanced in this hobby I feel like I'm in middle school in comparison lol. Expertise is definietly the right word because most members here know their isshhh. I could spend all day just reading threads!

Hello! I am new here. I have been keeping freshwater fish successfully for 5 years. I, however, have had a saltwater tank for around 2 years and have been failing miserably with corals.

Newbie but willing.

Newbie but willing.

Hello Everyone,
I'm a Retired Army Veteran and a newbie to the saltwater hobby. Freshwater is a snap 28 years no problem. But this saltwater hobby has me stressed out. I only been looking on the chat forums for about a month and I been deep in reading and watching videos. I brought a 90 gallon pre drilled tank with a descent base. Now that I'm ready to start buying the protein skimmer, sump, return pump, wave maker, heater, uv light, test kit, light for the refugium, light for the tank. Pretty much everything but like the skimmers I been looking at the Vortex and the reef Octopus I get mixed reviews and I was looking into one that is over my tank gallons like the Octopus 150. Also the sump I been looking at the Trigger I think that's the only one I seen that is pretty good. Like the ruby36 and the green on 39" when it comes out. Why the color ones well as I read the colors are so the other compartments when the light from the refugium is on light don't pass thru causing it to create algae. So since I'm new to this I really don't want that to happen. I see people buy the clear so does it really matter clear or color. I seen the wave maker MP40 but Wow if i need a couple of those man thats to much. But i did see one that is like the MP40 i think its called jabba something like that and i saw it does pretty much the same isnt wireless but its way cheaper and i can get like 3 or 4 of them. This is not mentioning the doser should I get the chemicals and just mix and pour or get the drip machine and make it a little easier or am I just throwing money away. Don't get me wrong I can't buy top of the line but if between a simple one to a better one is only 100 or so more ill get the better one. Also when filling up the tank do I buy the water or do I buy the sea salt and mix it with distilled water. I'm going to stop now because I have so many question and I just want to make sure what I get is going to work even for the beginner. So if This Community could help me out on picking these items I would appreciate it. The more people I get for that product that's what I'm going to buy. The size of my base inside is 47" long x 17" wide x 28 1/2 high. Thank you so much for your time. Take care and God Bless. The @rmyvet.
