If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello!

Hello!

Hi Reefers!

The Salty Splash here!

Myself and my wife have just started the hobby, and our first mixed reef tank about a month ago.

I decided that the best way to have a successful tank, learn about proper care for my inhabitants, and not feel so guilty (maybe) about losing fish is to join a community that has the experience that i personally do not.

I plan to start a thread of my build, and scheduled parameter testing, through the bad, until the good.

I have been watching threads here learning for a while, and I haven't found anywhere that has the same level of expertise.

Currently me and my wife are going through the 52 week youtube set by BRS, which has been a very educational learning experience.

Anyway, hope to meet you all soon, and thank you for reading!

Hey RC,
My name is Brendan, fairly new to the hobby. I'm just a kid trying to soak up as much information and knowledge as possible. I have had a 20g tank set up for a few months now, sump less and skimmer less! The goal is to turn the currently dinky little tank into a nice mixed nano reef.
Hopefully there is plenty of friendly and helpful people around here!

New SPS/LPS reefer - London, UK

New SPS/LPS reefer - London, UK

Hello,

8 year old reefer, still learning.

240 litres Juwel RiO upgraded to reef. Currently running T5s, a few softies, 6 happy fish, no sump, 70 kg live rock, Juwel protein skimmer and just got rid of all filter sponges replaced with a bag of carbon, phosban and filter floss.

Future plans - Juwel 400 (450 litres -98 UK gallons), no sump (renting so can't risk drilling, etc.), 100 kg live rock, MaxSpect razor 320 watt, undecided between Juwel/Deltec skimmer, might mix some tangs (tang police banned), SPS, LPS.

All advice welcome.

Milton

Hello... New to SW, but I have 6 FW tanks right now.

Just got a ~40 Gallon Bow Front that I think I want to use for my first SW tank. It is a nice shape and size to do a nice mound of rock right up the middle of the tank.

I want to do Corals as I love Snorkeling and will soon learn to SCUBA dive as well. I want to bring a piece of the ocean into my home office. I am so new to the idea of SW that I don't even know yet exactly what I want. I want color and movement, of those I am sure...

I also have a 55 Gallon tank that I was going to use as a Cichlid tank, but I may switch them up and use the 55 as a SW tank and the 40 Bowfront as a Cichlid tank... Either way, I will build a sump/filter out of a 40G breeder.

Hello, I have had aquariums for years but never salt water. I recently got a JBJ 28 gallon nanocube Intermediate aquarium on craigslist for very cheap. I was intending to set it up as a freshwater tank, but after thinking about that, I figured I might as well see how difficult it would be try a "simple" salt water tank.

Still deciding on that, but new to the forum all the same.

Welcome! Do it, it's your destiny. It's a lot of work but so worth it.

Thanks for welcoming me to reef central.
I am currently getting back into the hobby (full-time job ) LOL since super storm sandy.
I currently have a 29 nano-bio cube reef going. which is doing well with soft coral and one clown and one blue damsel. I am also setting up a 65 gallon with a 30-gallon filter ( live rock and refugium ). I used to run a 90 gallon also.

Hi guys

Hi guys

Hi everyone. After about 3 years of keeping a lightly planted Fluval Edge 12 gallon tropical FW tank, I've finally decided to make the jump to a reef tank. The wife isn't too thrilled about having big tanks in the house, but I was able to convince her that a bigger tank would be easier to maintain for someone with no SW experience, so we finally settled on a 55 gallon setup. I'm hoping in the future when she sees how nice a reef tank can look, she'll be more open to larger tanks, but for now this is what I'm working with. I started researching the hobby about 3 weeks ago, and so far haven't bought any equipment, still trying to get my list together. I'm very glad I found this forum. There's soooo much info out there, and so many different opinions on how to do things, I quickly started getting overwhelmed and discouraged. It's nice to be able to read the threads on here, especially the tank build threads. Makes it a lot easier to plan my tank by seeing what's been working for others. I'm sure you'll all become very familiar with my name, as I'm sure I'll be on here with a million questions. But for now, I'm just going to keep lurking in the shadows, reading and learning as much as I can lol.

Hi
New to the hobby and have been following some of the awesome advice and general information that a lot of the members give.
We've had our tank for about 5 months and most things seem to be going well - just about to head over to the ID section as we've had some strange growths in our tank over the last couple of weeks and can't seem to find anything like it on the www :-)

Hey all,
Just got my first salt water tank set up. Its a 40g breeder and I have found tons of helpful info on this fourm. This will be my first salt water set up but i have an existing 75g freshwater tank. I'm using all dry rock and I'm not 100% sure how I should go about seeding it. I'm in the Eau claire area if anyone happens to have a piece of nice live rock I could buy off of them that lives around here. Here's a pic of my setup. Thanks!
