Another newbie here with an LED Biocube 32 for Christmas (did early gift exchange).

In the planning/researching stage now. Will be a coral and fish mix, almost entirely soft corals because I don't want to mess with changing the stock lights.

Hello everyone, Per from Sweden here.
I'm a total newbie at aquaruims but been researching on and off for a while now.
My plan is to start a 15 gallon nano with sump.
Marco rocks, siporax, Mame overflow, MP10, diy led lighting, "bacteria driven" nutrient export, and so on...

Hello, I'm Nick, and I'm returning to the hobby after many years of being out. I found the old login info for this account so I just fired it back up. I've been gone for so long and things have changed again from when I last did it, I figured I am a newbie again so I'll be learning all over as well.

I picked up a 90gal RR tank so its official I'm starting back up!

New to the salt water community. I have been keeping a planted freshwater tank for about 6 years. I have been lurking on this forum and others for about a year contemplating the commitment of a salt water tank. Just found a used 110 aquarium for a price I couldn't resist. And so it begins...

Hello!

Just got a new 65 gallon tank and have been researching obsessively. Going to run my plans by the experts here, and hopefully they will keep me from doing anything monumentally stupid. Excited to get into reefing!

Hi (again) RC community! Thrilled to come back to this site for info and guidance as I plan a new tank! Sadly I lost my 180 and 75 tanks to a devastating house fire just 5 days after my last post here April 2012, and subsequently left the hobby. I am so excited (obsessed) with starting again, and that the RC community is here!!

Hello meandcharlie.

Sorry to hear about your home. Been there as well. Many years ago I had started a custom built 200g tank, was in the cycling stage when we had a total loss due to fire.

We were fortunate that no harm came to the human inhabitants. I hope the same is true for you.

I also did not return to the aquarium hobby. However, I purchased a used saltwater setup in December of 2014 with intentions of doing so (65g). Due to other projects I could not devote the time to proper care and just stored everything in the basement. I am now ready to get it started.

Plans are to convert my downstairs man cave into the aquarium room. Most of the basement is completely finished. My man cave is a separate room in the unfinished area. It is climate controlled. The flooring is cement slab with astro turf from the University of Alabama football practice field. Very durable stuff. I also have the ability to connect the system to my HVAC drainage system in the event of a malfunction, so hopefully all overflow water will escape to an outside french drain.

My early goal is to work towards a tank that can support anemones and clownfish (My daughter is in hopes of this as well) I have informed her that reaching this goal will be a slow process as we work to develop a mature and stable tank before introducing anemones.

Again, sorry to hear about your home. As devastating as our loss was it eventually provided some positive growth in our family. We were a young couple with a young son at the time. We were thankful that we were all ok, we experienced the compassion and generosity of others in our community and gained a true understanding of what we believed to be important.

Good luck and God bless you, your family and the new tank!

New member here. Read through all 115 pages of the Nuvo Fusion 40 tank thread. Amazing amount of info. This forum is great - already set up to buy some used equipment from a local member next week! Probably won't get my tank up for some time as there are so many decisions to be made first on all the gear...

Popping my cherry

Popping my cherry

Hello all here at rc!!! Well, long story short. I have had a few small freshwater tanks throughout my life. But, I'm taking a huge plunge into the saltwater. My wife and I recently bought a 65g tank we got a great deal on. So first what we are looking to get out of it, we would like a reef tank. We love the colors of the coral and fish. But, we want to do this very right. So here we are. My biggest conundrum is the filtering. Space is a concern at this point. So I am looking at canister filters. With a canister filter should I need a skimmer as well??? We want live rock and will have live sand. And down the road some fish. Some advice and help would be great. P.s. If I do decide to go with a sump what would be the minimum size y'all recommend? Like I said! Popping my cherry on this one folks! Lol

Hello, I had a salt water fish only tank 20 years ago in California, but I have not done much since. I moved to Prague last year and missed the ocean. So I started a Red Sea Max 250 two months ago. I am having a great time learning all the stuff that changed since 20 years ago. I do have a question for the group: Are there any members here from the Czech Republic? I have been trying to find some, but had no luck so far.

Greetings, I have wanted to begin a saltwater tank since college. The Wife bought me a 30 gallon tank for xmas. A little experience with freshwater, not much. My ultimate goal is reef tank do I start with fish only and work my way up or do I jump right in and go for it any thoughts?
