If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Howdy guys, new guy here to marine. Been keeping freshwater fish in an 80 and 130 for over 12 years. Much different for marine though.

Due to a recent move I lost the fish in my 130 and wife and I decided it was time to switch to salt. So converting this oceanic glass tank to marine. Pretty much starting from scratch with dry pulkani rock and new sump since the old sump was really designed for bioballs. Redoing the plumbing too so going to be a couple more weeks before it has water again.

Planning to go with a reef tank but taking baby steps so I can learn as much as possible. Rocks should be here this week so at least I can get that arranged till I am ready for the new sump. Planning on the Trigger emerald 34 or 39...prefer 34 for space if I can get away with it.
Thanks!

Hello Reef Central!

Hello Reef Central!

Hello, my name is David and I have recently started a 75 gallon tank. I have done extensive research and I have used this site many times while I was doing so. Any advice that you have is good. Here is a picture of my tank. It currently has 5 hermits, 2 snails, and a serpent star.

Back at it, out of storage

Hi everyone,
Back at it after a break from the hobby with to much going and a move. In fact just got a delivery from Bulk Reef Supply with my new sump & all sorts of goodies. I guess it's time to plumb the house for RO/DI and get all the rock I stored curing. Looking forward to talking with you and soaking up the knowledge/experience.

I plan on documenting the re-set of my 90gal corner. I probably would have changed tanks but it fits so perfect in our space. I've been thinking about all the things I would have done differently or better during this down time. Looked at a lot of others systems & learned a lot. I hoping to improve & work with a lot of my previous equipment with a few needed upgrades but mainly working to improve the equipment layout/implementation for the best solutions for husbandry, use, maintenance & upgrade-ability.

hey RC!
I've always been fond of saltwater fish. I have a 60G tank with the necessary requirements: sump filter, live sand, water, microblift, lightning, (specifically for saltwater fish only) not really experienced for coral life yet. thermometers, heaters, python siphon. however, the only thing I don't have is live rock. I'm excited to get everything started and set up. i want to be able to start placing fish in my tank by next spring. if there's anything I'm missing please let me know. I would like to learn as much as possible from this website.

thanks,

Elijah

P.S. please list saltwater fish aquarium stores, live rock facilities and websites for reasonably priced saltwater fish. :)

Hey guys, getting started with a 32 gallon led biocube in a few weeks. I have previously owned saltwater tanks for about ten years. Started with a 30g fish only and my last tank was a bottom drilled 100g corner flow with metal halides and a 30g refugium. Excited to get this new tank up and running. Gotta restrain myself however as I just want a simple set up with an anemone and a few clowns for the kids and maybe a few other fish and some easy peezy corals. I have already learned some good information from the few searches I have made tonight. Seems like a good group of people in this community as well.

I would like to add that it's been probably 8 years since I have owned a saltwater tank. So kind of noobish getting back into it. The basics are still there but some things have changed a little bit. I definitely need to do more reading.

Hello

Hello

Just wanted to say hi!

I have been keeping a 3g pico freshwater for about 4 years while I was in school(apartment wouldn't let me go bigger). I am finally working and in my own home so I plan to make the dive in to saltwater! Will be lurking around the forums trying to figure everything out!

Thanks,
Gridlox

Hi all, Im Chris and iv been lurking on here for about a year while I was just getting into reefing last year. My daughters 20L is turning 1 year old this x-mas and my 65g will be a year old next summer. Her tank has the majority of the corals while mine only has a couple of mushrooms, couple dozen eagle eye zoas that propagated from 3 left over on a frag plug, and a lot of pom-pom xenias. I really like those xenias. Her tank has 3 kinds of euphyllia, shrooms, 4 kinds of zoas, and a large Kenya tree to round it off.

I'm just starting out in saltwater aquariums. I have been doing a lot if research and threads from this site keep appearing. Seems like I should join and keep researching.

Hi my name is Sean and I'm new to saltwater tanks. Had a freshwater tank as a teenager with a few piranha. Have trying to research as much as possible and hope to learn as much as I can as this tank is for my children and I don't want to have to explain to them what has happened to there fish.

Hello everyone, My name is Belli. Newbie experience with saltwater and I have several aquariums to keep the fish and shrimp for about a year now.

Hi everyone! I recently broke down my cichlid tank and started my first marine aquarium. I've been lurking here for the past few months and now have an up and running tank.

Hey peeps. I'm Riley. and I wanted to introduce myself here. I have just started adding to my 75 with 29 tank. I'm using sunlight for heat right now because i've cycled for 2 weeks and nothing added yet but a couple damsels. will the sun light be a problem after a while? I like it's look. soooo Bright and not fake.
