i didnt read your previous posts, but reduce lights to 5-6 hours, and stop feeding, the blenny will be fine, you have algae due to excessive nutrients in the water, you need to ensure you only add pure water, this is via a RO-DI filtration unit, and also run a phos removing media to help kill off the food source for the algae, a gfo in a reactor would help

Hi everyone , Am Josh! I hope to dive into the world of saltwater and have been lurking around since the summer of 09! Done some reading and have got into this addiction that everyone seems have come down with lol. I am so far in the planning stage of my saltwater tank with my mom. Hopefully I will get a 135 gallon aquarium and everything I require to R/O to pluming.

Hello,
I just joined RC today. I have a 30 gallon saltwater tank that I took over. I haven't upgraded anything and I'm starting to get more into this hobby. I wanted to purchase a bigger tank and a friend of mine told me to come here. So hello I look forward to pursuing this hobby.

It doesn't matter if you have a 30 gal or 300gal here---we are all equal

so you can use the same size font as the rest of us in your posts:lolspin:

Nice!

Nice!

O.K. cool. I'm looking forward to really getting started. I have a break from school so I can dive into this stuff. Is there any books or info that I should look into for further research?
I wanted to either upgrade my system or completely revamp it. :fish1::fish1:

Hi all!!! My name is Bryce. I am new to the saltwater world and didn't plan on getting into it but I got a 70 gallon bow front with a stand set up for freshwater for free. Me and the wife have always just had freshwater tanks but we decided with this one we are going to do a reef tank. I have been lurking in here for a while and have got a few books from the library so I want to make sure all my ducks are in a row before I break the bank buying stuff. Thanks so far for all the great info, you can't beat personal experience and it looks to me like you all have an astounding wealth of it!

If it rose .2 then your reading would be 1.219 and that would be very high. Since there's only live rock it's not too bad of a "booboo" but you may have prolonged the cycle.

Continue to monitor your ammonia until you see it start to rise. Judging from your nitrates being "high" the live rock that you have has some nitrifying bacteria but it will still take some time for it to cycle. What are you using to test the salinity? Get it to 1.025 and let it stable out, and then it's just a waiting game.
